hebrews 2 :1- 4 "We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, WHICH WAS FIRST ANNOUNCED BY THE LORD (Jesus) , was CONFIRMED TO US BY THOSE WHO HEARD HIM ( the apostles) . God also testified to it by SIGNS, WONDERS and VARIOUS MIRACLES, and BY GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT distributed according to HIS WILL."
V1 we have to take the gospel seriously so that we dont become like those in the desert who are given clearly as examples of those who hear Gods word, and continue in rebellion against it because of our sinful actions we are afraid to accept that Jesus is telling us the truth of eternal Life. On one hand our mind says " of course Jesus is telling us the truth" on the other, we look for ways to make His ministry " null and void" to christianity.
v2 if the law, spoken from God to angels and then to men and was put into effect and held to account because of the blood of animals how do we expect that by ignoring the covenant put into effect by the Blood of Gods only begotten Son will leave us free of punishment? if the angels words were binding to mankind, how much more the words of His only begotten Son Who died to make everything new, and to rule Gods Kingdom?
hebrews 9:11-22But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that ARE NOW ALREADY HERE he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but HE ENTERED the Most Holy Place ONCE FOR ALL BY HIS OWN BLOOD, thus OBTAINING ETERNAL REDEMPTION.( see hebrews 5 :8-10)
The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. 14How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from ACTS THAT LEAD TO DEATH. (sins) SO THAT WE MAY SERVE the living God!
FOR THIS REASON, Christ is the MEDIATOR OF A NEW COVENANT, (john 1:14-18) that those who are called may receive the PROMISED ETERNAL INHERITANCE—now that HE HAS DIED as a RANSOM TO SET THEM FREE FROM THE SINS committed UNDER THE FIRST COVENANT.
In the case of a will,d it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it, 17because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living.18 This is why even the first covenant was not put into effect without blood. 19When Moses had proclaimed every command of the law to all the people, he took the blood of calves, together with water, scarlet wool and branches of hyssop, and sprinkled the scroll and all the people. 20He said, “This is the blood of the covenant, which God has commanded you to keep.”e 21In the same way, he sprinkled with the blood both the tabernacle and everything used in its ceremonies. 22In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness."
V 17-18 Jesus "will" or His gospel, his ministry was put into effect when He shed His blood and died. he did not die to remove the old only, but to put His new covenant made plain and clear into effect, like when a person dies, thier "will" thier directions for thier estates distribution is carried out as the person "willed" it to be. Jesus death puts His gosepl into effect and His resurrection confirms that it is the truth from God, as do all of the prophetic writings fulfilled in Jesus Life, ministry, suffering, death , resurrection and ascention and eventual return the ministry of Jesus Christ is the new and eternal covenant.
v 19-22 . the example continues " when moses had proclaimed the law in full to the people, THEN he sprinkled the people and the scroll with the blood of animals. its an example of Jesus who gave all of His commandssaid to obey them and assured that it would be preached in all the world, then He died and shed His Own blood for the people, and to put into effect His word of truth and Life, to redeem the people( paying death for us) and validate both His ministry as High preist and Lord, and His role as messiah and the Lords servant. along with His overall redemptive sacrifice upon the cross.v 20 Jesus also commanded us to obey Him, just like moses did the first time, its a pattern of things that were coming. the old covanant explains the new. and the new- the old. but without Jesus words there is no light for understanding, no spirit to give sight and hearing.
v 22 " sin is death, and therefore, forgiveness of sin, requires justice to be executed. sin is death , so only blood can offer forgiveness. blood represents the shedding of Life-blood. In the old testament when you sinned, you would then take a perfect animal from your flock, offer it to the priest, the priest would sacrifice the animal and cleanse the sin by the sprinkling of the animals blood. the new covenant is eternal, as is the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. as is His position as "High preist" ruler of doctrine, speaker of truth and Life. so blood must be shed, because sin is death, this is why Jesus died, and why we dont sacrifice animals anymore, He fulfills all of that sacrificial Law now by faith in his sacrifice of atonement for those who believe.
hebrews 9:23-28 "It was necessary, then, for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. ( animals blood for the 1st covenant, Jeus blood for the new)
24For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with human hands that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, ( see hebrews 4 :12-16 heb 2 and 3) now to appear for us in God’s presence. 25Nor did he enter heaven to offer himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own. 26Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But he has appeared ONCE for all at the culmination of the ages TO DO AWAY WITH SIN by the SACRIFICE OF HIMSELF (do away with sin, not guilt for sin see 1 john ch2) . 27Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28so Christ was sacrificed once TO TAKE AWAY THE SINS OF MANY; and he will appear a SECOND TIME, not to bear sin, but TO BRING SALVATION to those who are WAITING FOR HIM."
titus 2:11-15 "For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12It TEACHES us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live SELF CONTROLLED, upright and GODLY LIVES IN THIS PRESENT AGE, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Our Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us TO REDEEM US FROM ALL WICKEDNESS and to PURIFY FOR HIMSELF a PEOPLE that are HIS very own, EAGER TO DO WHAT IS GOOD. ( see 1 john 5:3-4)
THESE, then, ARE THE THINGS YOU SHOULD TEACH. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you."
High preist, and also prophet , and teacher, and Lord and counselor and the truth is Jesus Christ He is so much that the whole bible is built around and in Him in its design. He is 100 percent worthy of our full commitment above all else
all glory, wisdom, honor and praise belong to God and to Jesus the Christ, His only Son
