Hi all does anyone suffer from self rejection ?it is a self image issue that causes a person to suffer from crushing low self esteem.feelings of low self worth, paranoia ect??
In the world in which we live the enemie seeks to destroy and marr the self worth of millions from the rich and famous who spend loads of trying to obtain physical perfection (yet are tormented with dfeelings of self loathing)..to the housewife who feels unattractive and has body image issues.

As gods people we are also at times battling with the above in varying degrees..(I have even dated an stunningly attractive woman who didn't find herself as even attractive and was deeply insecure and distrustful in the relationship which resulted in it ending).

Just wanted to raise this issue of self rejection and it's terrible consequences as I myself struggle with these things on a daily basics!

Dont suffer from such, though due to different circumstances I find if I dwell on them I'd probably be depressed and suicidal.
I guess I'm waiting for God to change circumstances. Is something I can't do. God has promised so it will happen. Has taken a good few years of waiting and drifting along. When I try to work my energy is robbed and stress comes and brings dizziness and sudden weakness etc. Not feeling up to working can bring stress. Trying to run a car with no income needs to rely on God. I have no needs. No real wants. God is in charge.God is going to change things and quickly! For now I try to avoid stress. The more I try to avoid the more the enemy loads it on via others. Family... Friends.... People who think because I'm not working and not medically I'll that they can get me to help them when inwardly I'm stressing and going dizzy and not coming up to this standards being classed as lazy.... Is enough to drive one to suicide....
Just need peace and time to recover from stress. Stop my heart from pounding!
When God will change things I will be happy again! I will have my joy back!
Then I will have energy. Then my strength will return. Then I can have hope.
It has been years of waiting and waiting.... God has promised. I can't let go of His promise and try things my way. Try to get an income... Tried it several times and just goes down a depressive loop again where God had me let go of trying.
It is not depression. It is not self rejection. It is feeling trapped with no way out and looking for ways out just leads to further stress...As God Himself is holding me. It is being in His hands. Submitting to Him and abandoning ones own life. Gave up my house, job,... Everything.... As when one is in Gods hands one can't struggle. The only thing to do is look up and gaze! God has me safe! If I relax and try to ignore others who keep placing tasks and jobs and things for me to do.... No one understands. They say I'm lazy. Say I can't be walking with God.... The enemy tries to make my blood pressure go up and the drs pressure me to try tablets saying everything will be OK if I take them... And I've refused as I dont want to be a zombie! I dont want an unreal world. Dont want more to need to deal with!

Relaxing is good. It let's ones body recover. It may take years to relax..... God is in control.

I suffer from this issue on so many levels that I exhaust myself.

How would one know if it is an issue?
Look to the Lord and all His strength.
Seek His face always!
:)

lol well, I am pretty sure if all you see when you look at yourself is every sin every weakness everything you are lacking and not much else then you know it's an issue.

Yes, past wrongs to others can dwell and re occur at times as we all normal people get that! Then we realise we can't change the past so we carry on....you've given me an idea....
Have a thought to head for the beach and have a swim!
Be healed from past hurts and disappointments in Jesus name! Amen.

Kinda. More than a year ago, while I was still in my rather gloomy state, there was a funny little point in my life when I had this debate going on in my head about my self worth. About whether or not I was a beloved, unique child of God or just a negligible pawn with little to no real value. I didn't know whether to hate or adore myself.

i finally got out of this state by simply not giving a thing about it anymore :)

I find something telling in your post. You say you dated a stunningly attractive woman who had such poor self esteem and self worth that it ended your relationship.

This may be harsh: you say she was stunningly attractive, but not that she was brilliant, or charming, or witty, or creative, or kind, or funny, or good company, or a scintillating conversationalist. You say she was stunningly attractive.

Anyone with any bit of self knowledge who hangs their self worth on looks, money, or fame, knows that their self worth is on shaky ground. These things are fleeting. If she felt like all she had to offer were stunning good looks- it probably made her have low self worth as she felt she had nothing else to offer and looks fade.

Yes, but then again, isn't that a good definition for sin? When we spend time on self? (Which, so you know, is my biggest sin, since right now I could be doing something for hubby or typing this out, and guess which one I chose.) Jesus said to love God fully and love others as ourselves is keeping the commandments.

So what do we do? Dwell on self!

If we were doing as the Lord asked, we'd never have time to worry if we have a low opinion of ourselves. Instead, we spend way too much time figuring out all things about us instead of loving God and others.

I know I just reset the bar impossibly high, but I think today's world has set it to below ground level. And the Lord set that bar, not me, and has already told us how to do the impossible -- with him in us doing it while we glorify him.

(And hubby is now busy doing what I wanted to do for him. Failed again!)

I really agree with you on this. I think the world tells us in so many ways, from every angle, that it's all about "self". I am with you and think we should spend less time thinking about self (good or bad, positive or negative) and more time thinking of God and others. Also I don't want to minimize anyone's problems, or for 1 second act like I'm "above" doing this, and don't find myself thinking about "self" way to often, I'm the worlds worst if anything. I just think we (really I should say "I" because I can only speak for myself) put way to big an importance on "self". Even when talking about God and salvation I often hear it said God love "us" so much He laid down Him life for "us", but honestly I no longer see it like that alone. God did what He did for His glory, and please don't get me wrong God loves us and obviously He laid down His life and took our due punishment so we may know life, but it is ALL for His glory and because of His nature. Again I have sympathy for, try to help, and know God can and will help us when we are feeling this way, but "we" are not the end all be all, at all. :) In my understanding anyway.

The Biblical view on rejection in the next book:Rejection, by Henry Wright. We are all experienced rejection. This book reveals the inner working of rejection in the three points: rejection oneself, rejection by others, and feeling rejected by God. You don't have to be ruled by rejection, you can overcome it.

I've had a low self esteem since... well, early elementary school I guess.... and bullying didn't exactly make it better :p

I think the solution (which I haven't come near mastering yet) is "let go and let God"

Now by trust God I don't mean "Sit back and expect God to put something in your lap (though sometimes He does!),
but what I mean is: When you have tried your best, be content with that! You know and God knows.
Leave the word to their chasing of unreachable goals and idols ("perfect" bodies, best paid jobs, most power etc),
in the long run, that does not bring happiness... only a desire for more...and more...and more.

Hi folks been a long day.it is now 10.30pm England time!
Galatea the lady I was involved with was physically stunning (but she often called herself ugly)and yes she was a very kind giving person and very loving and I really loved her truly. However she would often accuse me of cheating on her (which wasn't true) and she dumped me out of this view twice (which again wasn't true )(yet I knew god has a hand in the relationship ending).Yet there was a very strong connection between us and we were back in the same relationship again.
Then she falsely accused me again of cheating on her having just gotten back together (her allegation wasn't true).By this time I had enough and ended the relationship as I had been hurt by her far too many times not just by these false accusations but how she treated me at times whenever when in her mind she believed i was cheating.Yet the root of it is her low self esteeme and being unable to belive that a guy could actually love her and her insecurities eventually lead to the break up.It took years to get over her because I did love her but her jealousy and false accusations made it impossible to maintain a healthy relationship and over seeking The Lord I knew that bit was going to end.So someway along the way in her life she had either been cheated on and is damaged by this or had a deep rooted sense that no one could really love her and would find ways to prove that was the case by these accusations!!

i will reply to the other response shortly
