Love listening and praying with many evangelist on tv, but then comes the " Call the 800 number at the bottom of your screen and send money".
I have a hard time believing this is right.
Any comments?

I think it has to do with this.

1Timothy 6:3 If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness,
4 he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions,
5 and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain.

7 for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world.
8 But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.

10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
1Ti 6:11 But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.
1Ti 6:12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
 
The majority of 'tv preachers' are Word Of Faith preachers, which is not biblical Christianity.
 
As the new kid on the block I'm hesitant to contribute so soon - but I too have the same reservations as Brother Bryan. I'm also aware of much cynicism in various churches as to "Where the donations go". Would it not save 'TV churches' much criticism by putting donations into one pot, to be distributed according to need?
I worked, with an NGO, for 7 years in resettlement camps of Sudan & Ethiopia - places where you just cannot imagine the sheer & abject suffering, want, starvation & desperation in the midst of seeming, unending civil war.
I vividly remember an image which still haunts me - I took a photograph, for a magazine, of a young girl who was so desperately starved that her body was rejecting any foodstuffs we tried to get into her. Ten minutes after I took the photo she died, as I & the medics sat & watched, totally incapable of doing anything to help.
The NGOs at these camps were/still are policed by the DEC who, when donations come in put them into one pot to be distributed around the "needs of the day" - eg water/food supplements/medicines/sterilisation equip't/etc. In this way you can be sure that your donation gets to where it's so urgently needed. I know that there's always the argument that every charitable cause, irrespective of role, needs money. But when you've sat & watched a 3 year old girl die before your eyes ..........!
As the saying goes; "Give a man a handful of rice & he'll eat for a day. But give him the tools to grow that rice & he'll eat for a lifetime".

The televangelists are a joke. The huge majority are just doing it for the money.

They are a stain on the Christian Name. I can see why many people think that Christianity is a joke when you see those who "peddle God's word" like its a merchandise. The word of God who is Jesus.

2Corinthians 2:17 For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God's word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ. ESV

KJV 2Co 2:17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
