When I was seven years old, we were informed that a rapist was going after babysitters. We were in a dangerous violent neighborhood. We had firearms loaded in every room. I heard someone who broke into our home. I sit in the hall where I can see the armed invader.
I have given him a verbal warning. He pointed his gun in my direction. I pulled both triggers on my shotgun, killing him. Our Babysitter woke up, turned on the lights to the hallway to see what happened. She went back into the guest room and called the Police. No one was prosecuted because it was self defense and protecting everyone in the home.

The Police and School provided me with Counselling.

A year ladder, someone broke in coming thru the Kitchen window. I used my Mother's hair spray and a lighter to set him on fire. The Police showed up to arrest him and laughed like crazy.

Within the same year, three armed men broke in. This time, I had my 30-30 Winchester. I learned from the Police not to have a warning. This time I laid at the top of our closed in stairway. I waited for all three to be in the stairway and opened fire killing all three.

Over the years, there was several armed invasions, some we had multiple shooters.

What advice would you have a family in that neighborhood?

We were not born again back then.
“If a thief is killed while trying to break into a house at night, then no one will be guilty for killing him. But if this happens during the day, the one who killed him will be guilty of murder.

When I read "thief", I am thinking "cat-burglar". I don't think that's talking about an armed person that is breaking in and willing to kill you.

The Bible might be supposing that the intruder is unarmed or at least identifiable as to whether or not they have means to kill. That's my understanding. On the other hand, at night, even an oil lamp isn't going to throw enough light to safely tell. Plus the whole family is in bed so the thief would be quite desperate and presumably ready to kill to carry out his other crime of theft.

I came to my application in part also because there are various penalties for theft, depending on motive and whether or not the property was recovered. None of the penalties were dismemberment as a false prophet who used to pastor a "Baptist" church in Enterprise WV used to teach from the Khoran. The worldly imprisonment of criminals is not the Biblical penalty either. Restitution to the victims is mandated. There's no interest to the state in that case, so they rejected Biblical teaching for the love of money, the prison/ legal industry.

I say this near 5AM with chronic insomnia. Earlier around 11pm, I heard noise in the back, as potentially someone trying to break into my storage building. I calmly went out in the dark to do a clearing exercise and suspect now that it was a raccoon that has been after my grapes. That happened earlier in the year and it turned out to be a thief who was breaking in with a heavy pick Axe.

I had 8 or 9 break INS over the years.
These were in different locations or I would certainly move. I'll continue on the next post. Two points per post is enough at 5AM.

I don't blame you for your actions at all. You were protecting your family.
You were their hero!

I can't sleep tonight, so I just thought that the news might help me go to sleep. Lol. The first story I came across was THIS<.
Who do you think is coming up from Venezuela? Would it just be the folks trying to escape their communist hell, or perhaps the type that you just talked about?

Today there are nonlethal means to incapacitate perpetrators. Perhaps make use of them.

I wouldn't exactly call having to kill 3 people and light one guy on fire before you a even turn 10 a "great childhood experience"... in fact that's not even "childhood" at all, in my opinion. Grown men were never even meant to slaughter each other, let alone a 9 year old.

This doesn't sound like a "neighborhood" it sounds like a warzone or a battlefield. Get your kids out of there.

Venezuelan Gangs take over buildings in Colorado city.

Gangs of thugs steal from federally controlled gun shops to use on law abiding Colorado citizens. They are driven from their homes and everything they own is taken. Thank Kama because she promises to make this a crime through executive order.

The citizens will be denied the means to defend themselves from"weapons of war", so called "assault weapons", but she will protect them...She promises.

I thought the Home Alone scenes were pretty funny, but then I grew up with Bugs Bunny and the Three Stooges too.

One thing that's not too funny is a dude or three waking you up in the middle of the night. Nobody wants to have to defend their family by taking a life, but things happen. It's not the child's choice when bad guys break in and threaten your loved ones. I'm always trying to learn new ways to defend against intruders since I've faced a lot of attempts on my life like The Learner

Do you have any suggestions for non-lethal means of incapacitation of bad guys that wasn't covered in the Home Alone series?

While I was watching Bug's Bunny and the Three Stooges, The Learner was trying out a weapon he saw on a James Bond movie. 😄
