I made the choice when I was in 8th grade not to have sex before I got married. When I was getting ready to start high school my parents bought me a purity ring. I have worn it for 5 years now and when people find out what it means to me, I get the same look. The look that says either "you need a ring to remind you??" or "are you CRAZY?".....anyone else have this same problem?

I had that too, but always remember to be proud. Its good to have a reminder because there are times in life when temptation happens, after all the devil loves to sneak up behind you, even face you face to face, but when things like that happen, you will remember that promise, I am really proud of you. Wish i kept my promise. Dont let anyone ruin it for you! good job

I've never worn a purity ring, so I can't directly answer your question. But I am committed to remaining pure for my Lord and future wife if He has one for me (although to my shame I wasn't always). If you or anyone else told me about it, I know I would respect that person more, maybe a lot more. I wouldn't think that you need it to remind yourself of your commitment either. To me it would be more of a symbol, like a seal (like those that used to be on letters), just something that makes it seem that much more concrete. Then again, I'm probably not much like most of the people you meet:)

You are right, to me it is a seal. I have made a commitment to remain pure until the ring is replaced with my wedding ring. It may sound really cheesy but in my wedding I want my husband to actually switch the rings!:D

Dont mind what others say.. Be proud of it!!! Maintain that purity, I promise you, you'll never regret it..

You should be proud of it, and i'm sure God is proud on you for keeping pure ;)

I am not interested in wearing one, but seeing people wearing it would bring smile to me.

People in the world wouldn't appreciate it, staying pure is a funny thing for them. I even got the best advice ever from few people telling me what I'm missing.
What is wrong is right to their eyes, what is shameful act is something they are proud of doing.
Now, who is crazy?:)

when i wear my purity helmet sometimes i get some snide remarks. There just all haters.

Nothing wrong with a purity ring. As long as your not one of those girls that freaks out over like small stuff, a simple kiss or something.

Carly with my purity helmet a man is guaranted not to be able to give you a simple kiss. With its double pained storm glass shield in front of your face.. Nothins gettin through that bad boy...

i would suggest trading your ring in for one

I know, they know nothing of purity helmets

Carly just imagine this could be you!

what is that thing even made out of? i'm not so sure that's gonna offer much protection

why its made out of purity of course! She can push a button on the side and the glass fits into place to ward off any unbiblical impure men!

It's not for protection and it won't scream at you to stop if you go to far!! It is for the person whom is gladly wearing it to remind themselves of their decision to honor God and wait... People only bothered me when they saw me wearing it after I let something that was innocent go to far! So I got a new one and it means more to me then the first, I wear it proudly on my finger the word FORGIVEN always with me:) :)
