We are righteous because the old man was destroyed and a new creature, reborn of God, took its place. (among other things)

How was he lost ?
Besides, we have David's take on it too..."The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity." (Ps 5:5)

They can't.
If their actions show that they are still bringing forth the fruit of the devil, they cannot be confused with those actually reborn of God's seed, and bringforth His fruit.

So you claim to be without sin, but have no guarantee that you will make it to the end without sinning. You claim you are sinless because the Spirit of Christ is within you, but if you stumble and sin it means that the Spirit of Christ was never in you.

Your entire existence is a contradiction. What a miserable way to live.
