I love all people, and I think that anyone - regardless of their ethnicity - who accepts Christ (i.e. the King of Israel and prophetically "Israel, [God's] first born son") becomes grafted in and heirs to the promise.

So it doesn't look like the majority of today's Jewish people are descendants of a people led away into all nations as *captives*, based on the above historic records. This group of people weren't sent into all nations as slaves...but they would definitely fit the second part of Christ's prophecy of Gentiles who would trodden down the city (Germans/Russians vs. Arabs).
Yet with all of this said, the land is STILL God's and as is written the land (i.e. Jerusalem) will be a stumbling block for all nations. So no matter who's there I believe God will use them to fulfill his word with regard to the land.
