How can any flesh mix with the Spirit of God? Did not Jesus come to kill the flesh nature and give us new life the Spirit of God the Father of Christ, and more abundantly, as now we can rejoice in tribulations, count all as a joy in the Holy Ghost that we are sealed with from the first day of belief in God through Son
Either one is alive or dead no in-betweens
One is either alive to flesh and dead in the Spirit of God through Son Christ.
Or they are alive to God and dead to flesh sin, and this is only done through whether one believes God to have done it all at the cross for them through Son Christ period
Yet it does take a hard work to come to the entry of God's rest God has for all that come to believe God, and one does not unless one believes, just like in the day of Provocation where the Israelites did not believe even though they saw, they never entered God's rest because of unbelief period, no matter how hard they tried, they had their way of doing things just as it is today, flesh just does not want to die, to self.
Only you can make that choice between God and you

Oh Brother I am not trying to get you to see differently or accept Pagan worship in any way. This is your free choice and I respect that
I myself have not celebrated any of the Holidays for a long time now, and is my personal thing.
I am not called out to tell others they need to see what I see. I am called a newsboy to spread the amazing good news and am exceedingly glad as Paul was.
When he said there are those of sincerity and those of strife, either way "I" Paul will glory for Christ is being preached
Even Jesus said this to the Disciples leave those alone that are preaching my name, for a divided Kingdom can't stand
And I know what you say about the Pagan Holiday is what it is, and has been on many ways a great deceiving deception to many, BUT CHTIST is Preached
And guess what God is the one that gives the increase and is the one that causes me, you and all that do believe to stand in God's timing not mine, yours or anyone else's

The actual problem in that time was there were the Pagan priests and the Faith in Christ kept spreading, and these Followers of Christ were not going to worship with Pagan priests. No going to Church, no money for these priests.
So Constantine brought in the Pagan Priests and said to them convert, tell the people you believe.
so they did and today we have Church and people above other people, having deceived their way in between God and you personally in having that personal relationship God gives you via his Son Christ
Flesh does just not want to get out of the way, Something for all that believe to maybe think about, is God still a Jealous God?
Who is the object of your Faith (belief) God personally or mankind in and of some sort of worship? When God today can only be worshipped in Spirit and truth?
Apparently it doesn't matter. (It does matter to God, but then, He is rarely consulted.)

P_rehbein, I felt that way until I found out that many who really believe they are in the faith will be told by Jesus he never knew them. I prayed about it, and it intered my curosity what it was that God hated, guess what? After a thurough search of the scriptures, I do not celebrate anything that originated as a pagan holiday, or even refer to this pagan calendar by the common names that attribute the days and months that God made to pagan gods. "Narrow the way and few there be that find it". ...but then that is just klunky old me. I think if anyone thinks that not keeping the holidays makes them righteous, then they are worse off then those who keep the wrong holiday for the right reason. God looks on the heart.

There are some problems with this thinking. First you say the ONLY way to worship is in spirit and truth, then you say it is good to worship with the physical trapping of Christmas. That would agree with my point that there is a connection between what we do and our worship in spirit and truth. One affects the other.
I agree, it is a wonderful thing to have a holiday that brings the Lord to the attention of the people. Every holiday that Lord suggested was made illegal, and the church still obeys that command that Constantine made. At least we have the ones that Constantine converted to Christian celebration.
If we consider what God tells us about such things, If we take our own reasoning out of the equation, we find that God was solidly against using pagan ideas and converting them to Christianity. God wanted us to follow strictly how God planned it. I think of Moses coming down that mountain feeling triumphant with the ten commandments to teach the Hebrews how God wanted them to live and finding they had to have something solid to look at to worship God, the golden calf. Made perfect sense, it was what they were used to doing, and it was only to let them see something to remind them of God. Not having an object to look at made God seem like sort of pie in the sky. It was like our Christianizing the pagan holiday. I hope God isn't looking at this as God saw the golden calf. That calf was considered the proper way to worship for thousands of years, it stayed even at times that pagan temples were torn down. Anyone against them was considered against God, very like we are with people against Christmas, but God was against them all the time.
But if we toss out any holiday God said to do, we have to have something. Our world is in a pickle. Constantine really set us up when he legalized this stuff, and the church has followed Constantine rather than God in many things ever since. Now tradition is more powerful than God's word.

As for the title of this one I do like Christmas, religion can and does as it wishes, they made the religious holiday. My old church used to put the tree up, hugh tree, between the baptismal font & the altar, infront of the graven images, but behind the baby jesus in a cradle, right next to where they store the elements for the body and the blood of Christ. Christians are doing much worse things than celebrating Christmas, nothing wrong with Christmas, really.
God only gave one religion & worship system and he took it away on the cross, then further more by distruction of that systems temple. Then said, "ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building" through an apostle raised up for a purpose in a new dispensation.
