Let me speak frankly...with another Scripture verse!

Matt 24v22:

'And if those days had not been shortened, no human being would be saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.'

So, get ready now for the Great Tribulation by getting close to the Lord Jesus...Matt 24v15-21, Luke 18v1, Rev 7v14.

If we listen to the world and it's reports..particularly for me since I live in California..we would be all packed up and ready to go into the OCEAN!
But when I look at the word of God..I don't see him telling us to be fearful or "prepared" for evil tidings. But instead he tells us..Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom. Lu 12:32. So often the Lord tells us, "Fear Not"....the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows!
We should not prepare we should trust our God!

In that very same chapter that you quote from, a few verses further on the Lord states the following about His 2nd Coming:

Luke 12v35,36 (TEV):

'Be ready for whatever comes, dressed for action and with your lamps lit, like servants who are waiting for their master to come back from a wedding feast...'

It is because the believer has prepared themselves for the dark evil days of the Great Tribulation that they will not be fearful, for they have followed their Lord's advice and got ready for it...

Matt 24v44, Luke 21v34:

'Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.'

'And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.'

It is written to be wise as serpent and gentle as doves. If then we Christians know what is coming, it is wise to be prepared for it when it does come. And say we do get prepared and the Rapture happens and takes us away, 9 times out of ten there will be family members who are going to be left behind, and during that time will benefit from your being prepared. So then get prepared if not for yourself then for those who will be left behind.

Please understand there are two ways to get to Heaven, the first is the first resurrection that is being taken in the Rapture, then there is another way as well, read the full details in my article Two Way to Heaven.

i 100% agree with you on the we should not fear what is ahead but trust in the Lord our God. However there is nothing wrong with being prepared for something that we know is coming. If we believe the prophesies then we know what is coming and can be prepared for it. For example i have many days supply of can food, radio, flashlight, etc.... i do not fear what is going to Happen, but welcome it, it is a sign of His coming when we see all those things take place, when i was gathering that stuff it was not because i fear. i am ready to die at this very moment, but all the stuff that i have prepared will benefit someone. There is prophesies of famine coming, so the food i have prepared will benefit someone someday, that is because i love them, and want to help them, even if i am not around at the time, say i am taken up with Christ. There are prophesies in the Bible that there is coming a time where there will be a famine of the Word, So i have many Bibles as well. There is nothing wrong with being prepared for something that you know is going to Happen. You for example live in California, you know you have Earthquakes, have you done anything at all to prepare for an earthquake? Knowing that you are likely to suffer from an earthquake, it is only wise to be ready for it when it happens correct? Do you have an escape plan? Do you put items on the floor? In flood zones, people prepare for the flood, knowing they will come. getting prepared for what the Bible says will come, is wise.

You are absolutely correct though about fear. Someone who prepares because they fear, this is not right, we are indeed to trust the Lord and have faith in Him and to fear nothing but Him who is able to destroy both body and soul in Hell. But there is nothing wrong with being prepared for the right reasons either. A person can not get medicine that they need because they trust and have faith in God that He will cure them, and that is fine. But there is nothing wrong with a person who will take that medicine preparing themselves to get better believing and trusting in God that the medicine will work. What i have prepared, i have faith and trust God that it will benefit someone, maybe God will even lead a person to what i have prepared. 144,000 will make it through the 7 year tribulation period, without taking the mark and surviving for all that time without the help of the government at that time, my food will be very welcomed by them. Because at that time you can't buy any food without the mark of the Beast When these find a stash of food, that maybe God has led them too, it will be a blessing from God. What i have prepared is not necessarily for me, but i prepared it in the hopes that it will indeed benefit someone someday. All in His Name.

A bus pulls up in front of the man's house and they yell "get in there's a hurricane comin' and we're leaving town!" The man waves them on, saying go ahead God will save me. So the storm surge hits and he's up to his knees in water and a boat comes by, again "get in we're leaving!" And again the man says go ahead, God will save me. So now the hurricane's hitting town and the man's up on his roof to avoid the flood and a helicopter comes over and says "last chance, grab the hoist let's go!". But again the man waves them on. "God will save me". Then the storm hits, the man is blown from his roof and he drowns.

Standing before God the man asks, "why didn't you save me?"

To which God answers, "I sent you a bus, a boat, and a helicopter, what more was I supposed to do?"

Well, if you aren't saved by the time the rapture happens, then YES.

Rev 8:7-9 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were
cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. (8)
And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the
sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; (9) And the third part of the creatures which were in
the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.

A third of "food" producing stuff is destroyed.

Grass - Wheat, rye, hay, vegatables etc...
Trees - apples, oranges, pears, banana, etc...
1/3 less hay - livestock dies
Sealife - fish, vegatation in the sea

There's going to be a lack of food on an already hungry planet. They may have to come up with a
system to ration food. A system to make sure people get only a certian amount of food daily.
You know, a system that would have to control what people....buy and sell....sound familiar?

People are experiencing war and famine now.

I don't know the exact number but I think in excess of 100,000 Iraqi Christians were killed by US forces in Iraq. Those are civilians, mostly women and children.

Global famine doesn't mean much to the already dead.

But good news, I think George W Bush was Anti-Abortion and Anti-gay rights. So God is pleased right?

Please get some perspective.
