I am absolutely sickened by the Supreme Court's rulings today. They think they can overturn the will of the people. They can legalize homosexual marriage as much as they want, but I will stay on the Lord's side. They can tell the government that they have to oblige, but I do not and I will not EVER accept homosexual marriage. It is an abomination to God, and I will not tolerate it!

You realize that according to polls its either 50/50 or a slight majority now support gay marriage so they arent going against the will of the people. Besides the reason we are a republic and not a true democracy is so that the majority never tyrannizes the minority. You might not like the decision, but unless you are homosexual it also doesnt affect you.

Don't quote polls to me, quote the vote! California VOTED prop 8 in. That's the ONLY poll that matters.

Nautilus, it DOES affect me because whenever our culture loses its moral high ground, our society as a whole suffers. The more sin is accepted, the more acceptable sin becomes. We're already killing babies and legalizing homosexual marriage. People co-habitate and produce children who end up in one-parent households. What's next? Shall murder then be condoned? Shall people be able to marry their pets? Where does it end?

It does affect me. It affects you. It affects society as a whole. If you can't see that, then may I suggest you make an appointment at Pearl Vision?
 
And it has nothing to do with hate. It has to do with sin. I do not want to live in a society that condones sin after sin after sin. It's not good for anybody, whether you're a Believer or not.
 
Just people people agree with something doesn't make it right. I'm not shocked with the ruling but hey, what can you do? There was no legal argument against it.
 
Hey if you want to live in a coutnry free of sin, perhaps you should find a theocracy based on the belief system of your preference. But why secular people should be forced to mold their lives around any religion is beyond me. If you want a nation where all the laws are based solely on scripture then Im sure there is one out there for you. But its not the US.

Besides religious texts aren't a valid argument when dealing with laws that affect a mostly nonreligious populace. It's that pesky old separation of church and state.
 
Christian morals are good for ANY society -- that is why it is important to live in a society as bereft of sin as possible. Since we all sin, it is of course impossible to have a society without sin.

What you don't seem to want to acknowledge is that homosexuality (or all sin, for that matter) corrupts our country's moral fiber. Why do you think there is so much crime, violence and poverty? It can all be related to the acceptance of sinful behaviors that in the past were taboo. Divorce, co-habitation, abortion, and now homosexuality. These are sinful behaviors that tear at the moral fabric of our society. And it makes no difference if a person or populace is nonreligious. Do you want a country where there are no moral laws? Then why not just legalize murder?

How can you not see that as our morality decays, so does our society?
 
Doesn't it say in the last days people will call the good evil and the evil good? It's just a sign of the times.

Christian morals are good for a christian society. Not any. Even as a christian there are some morals i find outdated or pointless. But I follow them. However im not going to force average nonbelievers to follow them either.

One you can have morals without religion. Killing someone and taking away any possible future they could have had is clearly wrong. Rape, forcing someone to submit sexually is also clearlyy wrong. I don't need morals from religion to tell me that. 2 guys are in love and want to be together? Yeah, that doesnt really have the same fear or negative effects as the other two examples.
Wait a second maybe instead of worrying about who some people love, you work on fixing the more serious problems in society like poverty?

Christianity as a whole doesn't help when its more focused on gays than the poor. Look to the words of Jesus in the gospels, count how many times he mentioned helping those less than yourself and compare it to how many times he mentions taking to the street to protest gay couples getting equal legal rights as straight couples.
 
Plenty of the people who will now be able to be legally married as a result of this bill are Christians who love and stand by God and their faith just as much as you do. The difference between you and them is that they happen to love people of the same gender as them.
Also, they don't hate on heterosexuals.
The Bible may say that God does not tolerate sexual immorality (and you may interpret this to include homosexuality), but the Bible also says not to hate. Just saying. :)

I think it's funny, both sides would like to demonize and de-humanize one another. The LGBT people are horrible sodomites with some crazy agenda, and the conservative christians are religious nut-jobs and jesus-freaks. The fact of the matter is that both groups of people play victim when it serves them and their respective ideologies and agendas. Neither group is truly willing to sit down and actually have a constructive dialog with the other group because when you sit down and actually get to know someone for a different group of people it becomes more difficult to de-humanize and humiliate them. Also the decision overturned one piece of legislation, far from legalizing same-sex marriage on a national level, and extremely far from being tolerated by everyone in the states.
