1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
(Note: Sin is a transgression/breaking of divine law)

We've all broken God's law. No one can say he is not a sinner until some means is provided (not to take away the law) but to remove the sin, which is the transgression of the law.

Sin's required payment/judgment is death Rom 6:23. A sinless Jesus willing sacrifice. Fulfilled/met, covered, cleansed & paid the laws requirement for & removes all our sin.

Once our sins have been removed, there is no transgression of the law

And thru belief the Sin Atoning Sacrificial Death, Burial & Resurrection of Christ. We are no longer under law.

Rom 5:13 For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law

KJV Dictionary Definition: IMPU'TED, pp. Charged to the account of; attributed; ascribed.
(MY NOTE: When we trust Christ, our sins are IMPUTED/transfered onto Christ & Christ's righteousness is IMPUTED/transfered onto us)

Imputed Righteousness

Rom 4:11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:
(NOTE: By grace thru faith (Eph 2:8-9) righteousness is imputed to the uncircumcised/gentiles)

Rom :3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted (imputed) unto him for righteousness.

Rom 4:22 And therefore it was imputed (transferred) to him (Abraham) for righteousness.

Rom 4:23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;

Rom 4:24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

words to that old Hymn ring in my ears......

Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow......

Matt 7:21 Christ is still alive & the law is still in effect. Christ is under the law, speaking to Jews under the law.

Rom 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
(NOTE: By ONE man's obedience = Christ's obedience, NOT OURS)

Eph 1:7 In whom we have redemption "through his blood" the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Gal 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the ""faith of Christ"" and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
(NOTE: Believers are justified = Declared Righteous. Thru the FAITH OF CHRIST. Not our obedience)

Ephesians 2: 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
(NOTE: We are saved by God's grace, thru faith in Christ's finished redemptive work. Not our obedience/works. Read the next verse)

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
(NOTE: Believers are justified = Declared Righteous. Thru faith in Christ's finished redemptive work. Not our obedience)

Habakkuk 2:4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
(NOTE: Believers live by/thru Christ's Faith, not our obedience)
