I was in a abusive relationship for a year.The relationship is over. Now I can breath and appreciate the freedom of beign single. I use to feel lonely but not anymore. Can anyone relate?

I've never been in an abusive relationship. I'm glad you were strong enough to get out. I've been in unhealthy relationships and I definitely felt free when they ended. I've definitely seen how being alone can be better than being with the wrong person. Hope you are doing well now and you are surrounded by people who love you.
Pie, thank you for your kind words. It was mentally and emotional abuse. Yes, I feel soo free now. I am glad you are free from that bad relationship. Bad relationships help you appreciate singlehood. I used to feel lonely but I found out, that was the enemy making me feel like I was missing something. I am looking forward to positive relationships.
I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I've never been in an abusive relationship so from that perspective I'm not able to relate. I wouldn't have anything to do with a person who didn't treat me with dignity and respect. The best advice I can give you is when you are getting to know a person, stand back and ask yourself if this is what Jesus would want for you, if this is the example Jesus would set. Jesus would never give you someone who hurt you in any way. If it is His will to have someone be part of your life in that regard, they would be good for you and make you happy. Ensure they measure up to those standards before you consider allowing anyone into your life in the future.
laura_charlotte, I felt lonely for a while before I met him and those feelings got the best of me. I was in denial, I knew i deserved better. He is a pastor and a very good manipulator.Thank you for kind words.

I was in a situation so similar, this made my stomach turn.. the hardest part is that he too is in a leading role..

Im sorry you went through it as well. I know it was tough for me to accept BC of who he was. I was in denial for a long time.
Yes, it hurts really bad. It felt like someone stabbed me in my heart with a knife. I was more lonely in that relationship than i had ever been in my whole life. Now I feel like myself again. Thank you for your compassion. It is good to talk to someone who knows what it feels like.
Most important thing you can do is apply them in the future, with Jesus you can't go wrong.
