Sister's Cat is Sick, Most Likely Dying

Hi,

My sister's cat, Tiger, is sick. He has feline leukemia, which means every illness is worse for him. For the past few days he hasn't been eating. He has a fever which rises and falls. And he's not getting better. If you're reading this, could you pray for him and my sister? I'm not sure exactly what because even if he recovers from this illness, the next one might be the death of him. But God, if He chooses, can cure Tiger from any illness, even ones which humans can't cure. But God often chooses not to cure humans and animals so it might not be His will that Tiger be cured. I guess, could you just pray that God heal Tiger if it's His will, and that God remains with my sister throughout it?
 
Lord we pray for Tiger, let you please tocuh and heal, yes Lord, also bless ROSELLA's sister , with your peace, and understanding, and bless the cat, and let your name be glorified, in Jesus Holy name, Amen!
 
Thank both of you! Small update: while the vet wasn't/isn't very hopeful, Tiger has begun eating again. He's still not out of the woods, so any continued prayers are greatly appreicated. But having an appetite is definitley a good sign for a cat with leukemia, since feline leukemia suppresses their appetite. Thank you for your prayers! I know God is listening. Even if He chooses not to cure Tiger, He has at least given my sister more time with him.

Rossella, being a kitty lover myself I am all too familiar with the waiting and worrying over an ailing furry friend. So, your sis not only has my sympathy, but my empathy. Miracles do happen. I've seen it with my own animals. There was about a 5% chance of survival in one case, yet I was blessed with another 12 years of snuggles and sweet memories.

Eating is always a good sign and I do note that Tiger is eating something at least. But, should it be helpful, I'll say that I usually keep the meat varieties of baby food on hand just for emergencies. Tuna, melted vanilla ice cream, hot dogs nuked in the microwave until they're shriveled, and even the milk from a bowl of froot loops have worked for me to arouse some interest in food. Praying for sis and el Tigre!
 
Thank all of you for your prayers. Sadly, Tiger passed away the other day. But, along with just letting you guys know that, I also wanted to let you know about his life. It truly demonstrates that God cares for animals.

Tiger began life as a feral cat. My sister's apartment complex has loads of feral cats and two of them she has been feeding since she moved in. Well, in the middle of a huge storm, one of them brought my sister her newborn kittens. My sister dried them off and gave the mother food. In the ensuing month, the mother and kittens continued to come, but slowly the kittens disappeared until there was only Tiger. My sister noticed Tiger had an eye infection so she took him to a vet. She got him healed but the mother ended up letting him fend for himself sooner than is healthy for kittens. My sister took Tiger in with the idea of getting him his shots and giving him up for adoption when he became old enough (she has a dog and technically wasn't supposed to have another pet). However, she found out that Tiger had leukemia. Because it's so contagious in cats, the person who was going to adopt him couldn't take him anymore because she had other cats and couldn't put them at risk. Likewise, most shelters won't knowingly take a leukemia cat because it would put the other cats at risk. So my sister kept Tiger.

When he died, he was about a year and a half old. God had taken him from a situation where he may very well have died in kittenhood and gave him a warm home with food and veterinary care. I don't know if God would approve of my sister violating her apartment lease; I don't know if contracts or animals lives would take precedence in His mind, but either way, He certainly used the situation to give Tiger a much better life than the one he was born into. We will miss Tiger, but God gave Him much more time than it looked like Tiger had from birth.

I am sorry to hear about the passing of Tiger, but glad to know he had a better life because your sister cared for him :) I edited to just this part of your post to tell you that my daughter volunteered at a large cat shelter that housed both feline aids and feline leukemia cats. My daughter looked after them once a week for three years until she got job as a vet assistant :D

Thank you! I'll need to look into that to see if there's a shelter around here that does that. Tiger's mother and her friend are still alive and last I checked Tiger had a baby brother who is feral, too. If my sister knew of a place that took them, she could probably get any future kittens there. The current cats won't let her touch them so it's unlikely she could help them and, even if she could get them, they would need to go some place that takes both feral and leukemia cats. But any future kittens could be socialized from birth and make decent pets for whatever years they have.
