Who all thinks skillet is a christian band? I dont think so, I think they sold out like POD did when they went to Ozz Fest. :/
 
I thought they where??? wernt they? idk i always questioned about them. i think their a christian
 
I just looked them up and in an interview they said they didn't want to be labeld as a christian band and was on tour wih pap roach. Their def no christian.. :/
 
Just because the band isn't labeled as a 'christian rock band' anymore doesn't mean that they aren't all Christians in the group, which is still a +1 because that means they wouldn't put anything offensive or horrible in their lyrics. You would think, anyways.
 
I miss Ozz Fest... being poor sucks...

As for Skillet, I stopped being a fan a few years ago. They're too depressing. I got so sick of every song being, "You saved me, but I'm wretched and don't deserve it, woe is me I am scum!" ...and I guess that says something when a girl everyone thinks is goth says something's too depressing lol
 
I still like them, at least their music, i don't know much about the band themselves. They could just be trying to find ways to get God's message out to the rest of the world, its harder to reach out to some if they think your a christian band, kinda like sneeking your way through. I don't know, or they could really be falling
 
I bought a copy of Awake at Cornerstone, a Christian bookstore, so I'm gonna place my money on the affirmative.

And VikkiKate89... you're a funny muffin, in regards to that last thing you said. :)
 
I stopped listening to skillet last year. Read about them on wikipedia. They are christians, but they say their band in not christian. To me that is the opposite of the great commission. As much as God wants us to relax in His house, we ought to do some chores too.
 
What? I believe they aare christian! And I love them and their musicc rocks!
 
In the world not of the world is the story of Skillet and POD. They came to realise they can affect more people by being a band of Christians then being a Christian band.

Thank you. Skillet is definitely a band of Christians, if not labeled as a Christian band, which is actually better in my opinion.

thats actually a very strong factor in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. but it is not meant in a depressing way. it is said by us in a celebratory way. we do not deserve life at all. we should be DEAD. now i know that may seem hard to take in but bare with me. because of the sin of man and how much we have turned our backs on God since day 1(adam & eve) we are born sinful. but thanks to Jesus and his substitutionary atonement, we are renewed. which means Gods hurt and wrath was satisfied in Christ, which was actually God himself. thats a brief description. if you ever want to talk more about it or want to have a convo on any subject i am always here to help. I'm not saying I disagree with their point of view on it, I just got so sick of hearing it song after song after song. It got to a point where it's like, "If all you're gonna do is mope about how you didn't deserve to be saved then why did you even become a Christian? You sound like you regret accepting what most Christians view as a gift." I think even God would tell them to get over themselves eventually and just be happy that they were offered the gift of freedom. I don't think he wanted anyone to just dwell on how much we don't deserve to be saved. Be aware of it, yes, but focus on it all the time to the point where your own songs are just depressing, not so much.

The other reason this annoyed me was an ex of mine is an avid Skillet fan and he literally treats being saved like Skillet does in their songs. Instead of being happy that he was given a chance he didn't deserve he wallows around in the, "Why me? I'm unworthy, I should be dead..." In fact it's not just Skillet that does this, to be fair, there are other bands and he was listening to a lot of them. Some of his favorite songs had this exact same message and I just got frustrated because it was nothing more than a "Woe is me," fest. Yes we're not worthy, but I see a problem when people treat being saved almost like it's a burden.

i understand alot better now sorry about that. and there are more people like that then we think. the woe is me people. i think we are called to let those people know to rejoice in our new lives. not be upset that it was us. that is such a common mistake and its scary, but thats why we are here to change those peoples minds!
