Don't throw your pearls before swine comes to mind. The Lord may give you an experience but it takes discernment as to whom it should be shared. There are people who are close minded to the supernatural, even with scriptural support. They may say its biblical, but its not for me. They are scared. There is a fear of the unknown. Its understandable.

They could be slain in the Spirit and will call it a demon who did it... they will find excuses blaming it on some spirit from some foreign country. Why? Because it goes outside their paradigm. It stretches their imagination. It doesn't make sense to them.

So what, people are being "slain in the Spirit", do you see something wrong with this? Is there some negative fruit to it, or does it make the people revere God and give Him praise? Does it make them understand how powerful He is, and how very real His presence is? How can you say its a work of the enemy when it glorifies God? A house divided cannot stand. You may say, "Yes, but people will seek the experience.", and my reply will be "Does God not give the desires of the heart, even so place them there?" Maybe He wants you to experience it too!

People are so hellbent on the supernatural aspect of Christianity that they make up all these excuses and hypotheticals of seeking experience over God. It doesn't even make sense because the experience glorifies God. Which will lead them to Him, in worship. It all works out...

What country have you heard people claim the spirit might come from?

It's obvious that you either didn't read my OP or you don't under my point about "falling backwards".

Perhaps we are people who have had spiritual experiences but just aren't gullible enough to believe every huckster that comes along and makes a claim, especially if it is not found in Scripture and has no purpose but a dog and pony show.

What I don't understand is this language: "you will miss him"; "you cannot stay away from the holy Spirit's presence if he is right there over you and desires to touch you in that way"; "the feet just cannot manage to hold a person up when holy Spirit is in front of you"; "simply a move of the Spirit on individuals" . . . . How do any of these phrases happen when we are born again of the Spirit and the holy Spirit dwells within us? How will we miss him when he is that new creation that is created within us? How can we stay away or be away from his presence when he is within us? Why doesn't EVERY born again believer "fall" and how is the holy Spirit right in front of us when he is within us? Why doesn't this happen while born again believers are walking down the street or going about their everyday business? And again if it were a spiritual matter that God doesn't want us to be ignorant of - why isn't it listed with the other nine manifestations in 1 Cor. 12?

Believers have the Spirit of God dwelling within us, yet Holy Spirit can overpower us from without as well. He comes upon His people with power and blessing and ministers to them deeply in these kinds of ways. It is His pleasure to do so, but shaking one's fist at those of His people who receive it and accept it and at Him for doing something one cannot wrap his human senses around doesn't do any good to anyone.

"The word Bible is not in the Bible but God's Word is." I think this is something that could be said similarly of certain experiences. Even so, it isn't a matter of gullibility but discernment. If you've had spiritual experiences, then you know that you should not put a limit on God or put him in a box. That box could be the Bible, and that is all good and well, but unless you scour every verse and page, you cannot be 100% sure that said experience isn't biblical.

I think instead of accusing people of being hucksters because God is working through them you should rather seek the Lord on the matter before defaming God and the vessel He has chosen to use. You hear His voice don't you? So yes, go to scripture, but also go to Him so that He can enlighten the Word to you and teach you things. Ask Him if it is of Him and if it is, reveal it to you in scripture. I've heard testimonies of such, for even the silver and gold dust manifestations (Haggai 2:8).

You wish to throw insults by insinuating that people who accept, for example, being slain in the Spirit are being gullible. It isn't wisdom to deny that which extends beyond your paradigm, its doubt and disbelief. Its skepticism. You can be skeptical all you want, but don't tear down others who are open to what God is doing today. You can ask questions, but don't mock and belittle them. Act a little Christ-like. If anything, do it with meekness and respect.

I feel this person is mean spirited and especially if their proven wrong, they tend to lash out.

Just like you and too many others. I have yet to be proven wrong. Who you judge as mean-spirited is not. Your judger must be broken.

Like I told you before the point of this thread is to address being slain in the spirit and "falling backwards". Careful reading of the scriptures below only proves that point. Please stay on topic. No one is claiming that spiritual experiences do not happen.

Ezekiel 1:28
Ezekiel 3:23
Ezekiel 43:4
Ezekiel 44:4
Daniel 8:17-18
Daniel 10:8-9

In all the passages above the people were on their faces not their backs.

2 Chronicles 5:13-14
2 Chronicles 7:1-2

The Chronicles passages have nothing to do with being prostrate before the Lord.

2 Kings 8:11...And he settled his countenance steadfastly, until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.

What does 2Kings 8:11 have to do with being prostrate before the Lord?

Matt.17:6, Again, the disciples "fell on their faces".

John 18:6, The proper reading of John 18:6 is "they went backwards" meaning they drew back or stepped back, not "they fell".

Revelation 1:18, Havn't got a clue as to what you are referring.

Acts 9:4-8 just says that Paul "fell" to the earth not that he fell backwards.

I've had spiritual experiences but only give weight to those that align with Scripture.
I didn't attack any one in particular, just a movement in general...perfectly fine.
Go to Jesus for wisdom? Now that's a novel idea.
Gullible? YES GULLIBLE. Have a better word? Maybe DECEIVED.

I've had many experiences with the Holy Spirit in my life, especially in making decisions. One instance in particular the Holy Spirit cried out to me along with every fiber of my being to turn right at that stop sign. I went left and it turned out terrible

It seems i was right in the JM thread.

as for slain in the spirit. Only version of that i know of would be ananias and saphira.

i cant help but think
"i knew i should have turned left at albuquerque"

i havent gotten anything as bolded as that but things have happened in my life that i know were God's work.

there was also this but they were unbelievers...enemies of Christ

As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
(Joh 18:6)

I really don't understand the point of this thread...all your doing is sewing discord among the brethren, which is something God hates. If you were really seeking truth you would take this to the Lord. Have you ever asked him? Has anyone one of you humbled yourself before the Lord in all sincerity and asked him? Remember what Jesus said..blessed are the peacemakers...

Being in the presence of God serves no purpose?? Are you serious?

I enter His presence FREELY through the new and Living Way, through the Blood of Jesus.
I don't need a dog and pony show.

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
(Heb 10:19-22)

I guess God's appointed way is not good enough?

I only hope that what you see as deception is not directed towards those slain in the Spirit. You may be too quick to dismiss something that is of God, not even realizing it. Maybe you werent quick, and you've done your home work and studied the scriptures and come to the conclusion that it isn't of God. Yet, others have done the same and come to the opposite conclusion and they are witnessing people getting slain in the Spirit. You have two sides, and one is actually experiencing the reality. Kind of reminds me of atheists and their disbelief in God.
