So i really like Eminem's music. Just the stories that get told and how they relate to my past. Not to mention the good music. Is it bad to listen to his stuff? I mean I listen to tons of christian stuff and more often then i do his stuff

What you choose to listen to is a personal decision between you and God, there is no right or wrong answer. Though some will tell you that there is. Nothing in the bible that states that though, until they misquote and twist scripture to back up their Opinion. But ask yourself what are you putting into your mind and spirit?

word came out last year he's a born again christian now, but I doubt it

When I was younger I listened to all sorts of music including some rap. The older you get the more you will realize that the lyrics aren't speaking to a good style of life, that its not really music at all and that its mostly confused children listening to such stuff.

Your preferences at 14 are extremely influenced by those around you, your mind wants to learn. You could think nearly anything is a good idea if someone older is doing it. This is how many kids get into drugs, an older cool kid is doing it.

These things are built into the human mind. When you get older or away from certain people you will find your own hobbies, your own tastes and preferences. The younger you can do this the better.

The next time you are out and about driving through town, go through the local trailer park, pay attention to the cars, the trailers and the general lifestyle those people are living. Then go across town to a nice high end subdivision. You will see nice homes, decent cars and the american dream. The difference between those two lifestyles are grades in school and the effort you put into your life at a young age.

If you want to have a good life and raise a good family without petty worries such as food or paying bills or not being able to buy what you want you need to pay attention in school, get the best grades you can get and select something that YOU want to do with YOUR life. Learning how to be an individual and not being confused at this age is the difference between the trailer park and a $850,000 dollar house.

People make mistakes at much older ages because they do not know who they are or what they want to be. Plenty of people everyday join the military because they are confused, they think its going to be a good thing and that when they get out they will have gained something. This is untrue unless you have a college degree, have a real plan and join as an officer.

Find your own preferences, find something that makes you happy and that you are interested in and that will make you successful in life. Research what jobs provide what income level and decide how much you want in life.

I use to be a big fan of him. And though I loved the music I found that it put bad thoughts in my head (not saying he influenced my life in anyway.) But the thoughts of what he said just made it harder to stop cursing and thinking about sex. It gave me the "do what you want and forget what is right" kind of attitude. So I stopped listening to him and started listening to KJ-52 and other christian rappers.
I would say do what feels right to you. If you listen to his music and it doesn't give you bad thoughts or it doesn't change you in anyway then I think it would be okay to keep listening to him. But if you're like me and it does give you bad thoughts then try to find some better music to listen to.
But most of all anytime you are confused about something you like and do and you're not sure if it's right just ask yourself if it's what God would want you to like or do. Does it glorify God? Plus always pray when you're confused and ask God to help you.
God Bless!!!

Its' exactly how the devil works, He put influences in certain music, and little do people know it, its how the devil gets in people's minds.

That's why I stopped listening to all other music but christian music.
Most music now days is just full of sinful talk. Its better to not listen to it than to take the chance of it iinfluencing your life. (My opinion)

Nothing but Christian Alternative music is what I listen to nowadays. It's a little bit of rock, and a little bit of christian rap, and soul music. Perfect for new beginners. :)

I would say to be careful what you listen to. What you passively listen to goes directly to your brain and heart unfiltered. I used to listen to Eminem too and one day God had me destroy the cassette tape (oh! I feel SO old!) right in front of my friend, because the music doesn't honor God. As a Christian, we should seek movies, music, books, magazines, etc. that honor God, for we are called to be holy as Christ is holy. Just some thoughts. :)

It's wigger pothead music. I don't see how a real man could or would ever bother with it.

Did... did you really just post that racist comment??

Wow.... you guys need to be more covert. Talk in code like 88 instead of HH and stuff.

I'm not a racist. Why are you talking in code and calling me racist? I don't understand. Are you a racist?

Thank you all so much for your input. Pres19, i don't think it influences my thoughts, and i think ill keep listening to him. I do agree there is a lot of cursing and sex talk, but thus far i have kept myself uninfluenced. i also will look into KJ-57, as i have not heard of him.

Not everyone is influenced by music. I'm thankful you haven't been :)
Not sure if you'll like KJ-52 but I love him. Another good one is lecrae.

No right or wrong answer? really? Is that a fact, or just an opinion? Where's your 'untwisted' scripture to back that?

All thru scripture it teaches about good behavior, honesty, pure living, loving your neighbor, etc., yet you skip over all of this to say this music that talks about sex, violence, profanity, hatred & all type of evil is alright.

'Says a lot about you, that's for sure.

Just remember when you contradict biblical authority openly, you will be rebuked openly as well.

Where's the Scripture? What does God say?

Proverbs 27:3
For as he thinks within himself, so he is. He says to you, "Eat and drink!" But his heart is not with you.

Luke 11:34 Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness.

I will set no wicked thing before my eyes:
I hate the work of them that turn aside;
it shall not cleave to me.
Psalm 101:3

Proverbs 4:23
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Colossians 3:2
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

2 Corinthians 10:5
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Ms. AmberGardner: Good post! Paul says to the Philippians: 'Whatsoever things are true...honest...just...pure...lovely...think on these things' (Phil. 4.8).

Blessings.

I back up Ugly. When we start placing COMMANDS on other people based on OUR interpretation of Scripture: That's called legalism.

I put that guy on ignore long ago. He just trolls around and condemns people who disagree with him.
