Oh, JoDel, that is so tragic and I can understand the horror you experience with remembering how Eddi died... my heart breaks for you, and your loss. But! The best way to honor Eddi is to remember how she lived She lived with your loving care and kindness and protection and love and she was cherished and she knew it. She lived joyfully and loved you unconditionally and you had the distinct pleasure of loving her in return. The healing power of such love is... immeasurable. Let those be your memories of Eddi I pray the terrible visuals of seeing her fall to her death and being swept away leave you. What breed of dog was she? Rottweiler comes to mind for some reason...

I see her I had never heard of a Kelpie before Do you know that this dog was named after a mythological shape shifting water spirit of Celtic folklore? My daughter has a mini red tri Aussie shepherd that is the love of her life Koda just turned two recently She also loves to swim...

My grandmother was sad after an animal had died (I think it was a dog) and the Lord gave her a vision of Jesus in Heaven surrounded with every pet animal she had ever had!
I hope this brings comfort.

Thank you for that... it might seem silly, but I ask Jesus every night before bed, to hug her for me... she always slept at my feet or next to me.

My daughter takes amazing pics with her phone

She likes taking the dogs interesting places to get their exercise...

I am very proud of her for how well she looks after her animals

I have had hundreds of people die in my life. Wife, children, parents, grandparents, friends, enemies, acquaintances, strangers, fellow soldiers, worker friends, patients in my care..... and the list could go on and on.

But the only deaths that have really torn me apart are the little animals that I have lost, especially this last dog I had to have put to sleep last year.

Most of the time I don't care too much that I seem to lack empathy for all the world. But, sometimes this really perplexes me.

I didn't intend to minimize your post with the sorrow of mine. I'm very sorry. ~

To me, it represents the deep thinker I am. I can identify with what the woman in the picture seems to be doing... off by herself, pondering the things of God. (my interpretation of it anyway).

My friend's grandfather is just died, and she isn't nearly as affected when her dog died. That was an awful time for her, she couldn't make it through the school day without crying for about two weeks and she wasnt herself for a longg time.
So it's other only you.
Personally, when people pass it affects me a whole lot more even though I love animals to death. I can't even look as street kill without feeling awful.

Sometimes i I think we can shut ourselves off from the effects of hardship and
sadness, as a way of getting through life and think all is well. But then strangely one seemingly
isolated moment of sadness, suddenly can be the Catalyst for letting everything else
out, even years later.

Sadness and grief have strange effects on all of us.

Maybe you have more empathy than you give yourself credit for.
