Go back through all my posts and show where I said following the Ten Commandments saves anyone. You can't because I didn't. Following the COMMANDments is obeying God. Nothing more or less.
So what about the fourth commandment?

Did you read where Jesus told us what the two greatest Commandments were?
Matthew 22:
[SUP]36 [/SUP]“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” [SUP]37 [/SUP]And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ [SUP]38 [/SUP]This is the great and foremost commandment. [SUP]39 [/SUP]The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ [SUP]40 [/SUP]On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”
These are the Commandments we are to keep!
On these two Commandments rests the Law. You keep these two and you have keep the whole Law!
So why are you trying to stay back in the O.T. Law which cannot save you?

I didn't say anything about the 10. My point is, there are things that are established before the Law and the Commandments.
Throughout this thread, the fact that obedience is not legalism. It's just the right response to what Jesus did for us on the cross. Many on here believe that they gain favor with God by keeping ordinances and appointed times, feasts, which we'r specifically told by Paul not to do.
I don't know why, but it seems like peopleonly want to do the minimum to be okay. When our proper response should be, all to thee I surrender. Just straight out of a thankful willing heart in total gratitude for the gift we've been given.
Wehave discussions like this because we have it too easy in America as Christians. I'll bet they don't go back and forth like this in N. Korea, Iran or China
Most of Christian society still holds to a sabbath day to worship our Heavenly Father, maybe just not on Friday at sunset to Saturday sunset. We under Christ are no longer held to keeping it as a ceremonial ritual like was done under Moses.
Likewise with the feast days, those in Christ are not held to them today (Col.2). But it's OK if any believer thinks to do it and wants to do it. It's not going to modify their standing in any way by doing it, or not doing it.

MikelHenderson - See my above post for an answer to your question.
So, when Jesus said to obey his commandments, He only meant those two? Got it.

If we keep the two greatest Commandments we ARE keeping all the Commandments! Everything can be condensed into the two Greatest Commandments.
More like it doesn't matter, because they've got a hard enough time just being able to abide by the simple (read and do " parts of the Bible.

Interesting, considering the first four commandments concern man's relationship to God and the last six concern man's relationship to man.
Seems to me that if one loves God with all his heart, mind and soul one would follow His commandments.
How does one keep the Sabbath by following only the two mentioned? I really want to know.
Remembering the Sabbath and honoring one's parents are the only commandments that don't start with THOU SHALL NOT.
If I choose to worship on Sunday as the sabbath, but you say I must... only worship Friday sunset to Saturday sunset, then that is the keeping of the sabbath in ceremonial worship, which was part of the ordinances Jesus nailed to His cross, because of all the extra-curricular requirements associated with it involving ritual.
Same thing with Passover. We aren't required to keep it like under Moses to be in good standing anymore, nor do we have to literally remove leaven out of the house and eat bitter herbs. But by simply recognizing our Saviour Jesus Christ and what He did for us upon His cross, that is how we keep the Passover today, for Jesus now is... our Passover sacrificed for us.

I enjoy a good debate where ideas are bantered about. That's how we learn from one another. What I DON'T like is people putting words into my mouth. I NEVER said we have to keep the Jewish way of keeping time for the Sabbath (Fri sundown to Sat sundown). Not once.
Secondly, I wish folks would stop lumping the Law in with the Ten Commandments. I've clearly shown multiple times that the two are not the same thing. Don't confuse the issue. This thread is about THE FORTH COMMANDMENT. Not the Law. Not ceremonial trappings. Not dietary rules - the SABBATH.
I have made that contention many times over the 86 pages that this thread contains. Too many believe all things OT is either null or some have decided that we need to keep parts of the law that has been wiped away. Gal. 3, O foolish galatians.....do you seek to be made perfect by the works of the law?
Ok Dan, you have quoted one scripture where Paul deals with 'loving neighbour. There are usually more than one referring to laws and commandments....why are you missing them, especially those mentioned by Jesus/God Himself ?
You see, hearing Paul only is no different to hearing Moses only....men are not your authority/Savior - GOD IS !
AND the neighbour mentioned in the 10 commands is not the whole law nor the first law. Give this some thought Dan.

That is true....but HOW do we keep them ? The 10 give us the information HOW we are to keep them and show love ! We can't just decide for ourselves !
You CHOOSE to worship on sunday....where does GOD give you that choice ?
what you are saying is that YOUR CHOICE is more important than what GOD wants. When did JESUS ever choose to worship on sunday ? We know from scripture that it was HIS custom to go to church/synagogue on the SABBATH. Which jesus are you following ? Mat 24v4,5.
The Feast Days are holy days to be respected, though no longer observed as in the OT. We can learn from them still today in a spiritual way.
Being/learning Obedience is importance see Heb 5v8,9. Too many Christians consider Grace only...but what that does is give us a new start and put off the death penalty Until we are perfected and ready for God's Kingdom.
Everything God shows us is important and requires many steps !
Yes, and the Word says....REMEMBER the Sabbath Day to keep it holy !
how is it that too many Christians deliberately refuse to....keep it holy ? they don't hear God !
