Sober in the Spirit excludes what exactley?

I believe there will always be excesses but when we try to think with our natural minds what should God do or not do - that's when we are thinking we know what God should do...and if things happen differently then what we believe....they are heretics or whatever derogatory name you come up with.

Sometimes a lot of "manifestations" are just their flesh reacting to the Spirit on them.

When we get to heaven..the Holy Spirit will not be jerking and falling down all the time...but here on this earth that is just our flesh coming into contact with the supernatural and something gives....and it will always be our flesh....selah

Proper teaching and growth in the Lord will help us get out of the flesh. There have been instances in scripture were man was knocked down to the ground by contact with the power of God.

The bible is full of times when people fell down from contact with the Spirit of God. Is there people that over-react in some situations?..Yes..of course. Are they any worse then those that reject the power of God in manifestation?..no..just different...

I think what is worse then condemning how someone reacted in the flesh to God..is nothing compared to those that "slander" these people in the Body of Christ that our Lord gave His life and shed His blood for.

This can be seen in all of us. We all react differently to just about anything that happens to us. One person opens a gift from a friend, smiles a little, and nods. Another person opens their gift, shrieks and squeals, dances their happy dance, and hugs every neck in the house, kissing cheeks, right and left.

Should we criticize either, saying one should either be more demonstrative because they appear ungrateful... or that the other is being phony because they openly show that they really appreciate their gift?

I think it is the same old thing.... "If you don't do as I do, you are wrong."

Do you know af any bible verses that show children of God falling backwards (falling backwards is not a good thing) or verses that show someone being slain in the spirit (spritual death is not a good thing either). I don't know of any verses that speak of either of those.... falling forward in worship yes but not backward.

We do all react differently to things but Christians don't act like demon possessed fools when they encounter the Holy Spirit.

I know...Paul was knocked to the ground in Acts and so was John in the book of Revelation where it says that he fell as a dead man. GOD would never do something like that...:rolleyes:.


It didn't say which way they fell..lol.. oh the foolishness of our natural minds when we try to interpret scripture by natural reasoning and religious traditions instead of relying on the Spirit of God.

Here is one scripture where man came into contact with God and fell backwards ( as if that means anything in the way they fell down when confronted with the power of God )

John 18:5-6 (KJV)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.

Then, how come no one knew about what happened in Acts 2? Weren't they told? Actually, they were, but like many here, they didn't recognize it when they saw it. They, like you, denied it was the Holy Spirit because they only knew God through "Religion."

You haven't picked up on that in your bible study? Backward is not the direction Christians go... seriously the theme of falling backward is all over the bible. It's no wonder you guys fall for this demonic garbage. Here's a good biblical example of what falling backward means.

Isaiah 28:13 KJV
But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

Hey that's a good verse to prove falling backward is a bad thing... those guys that fell backward in that verse are the ones who came to take Jesus to be crucified.

God told them in the book of Joel that he was going to pour out his spirit... that's what Acts 2 is about. I agree it was the Holy Spirit, it was not a drunken spirit.

I'm still waiting for verses that show falling backward is good thing. In the meantime here's another example of falling backward as a bad thing.

1 Samuel 4:18 KJV
And it came to pass, when he made mention of the ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years.

I didn't know that was such a controversial statement, in fact I thought everybody knew that falling backwards was a sign of the judgement of God.

Can you explain to us how you arrived at your response to Grace's comment below?

I cannot understand how you go from reading someone's post which encourages us to trust Holy Spirit to your response.

It's as if someone were to say: "GOD is good-" and you responded with, "-and He ain't drunk".
