Wrong. We are to be fruit inspectors. If they deviate from God's word, we not only are to 'judge those within' but also,'expose them' if they don't repent, which anymore they don't and won't. That's because dumb sheep enable them .
This thing about a ' don't ask, don't tell' policy is the reason the great falling away is upon us. The folks that see the fraud are intimidated to silence with such words as 'touch not God's anointed'. A misuse of scripture.

oh...youre one of them guys knocking down peoples doors to "inspect their fruit". I'd call the cops on you and file harrassment charges.

I think there are more than that. There are those looking to please Jesus, those looking to please man and those looking to please themselves. Some have a combination of the three....or two and some are all in for one. There are a lot more shades of grey than such a black and white description. In the end we are all seeking significance.
I would agree with this but for the very last word... unless love is significance. :)

Actually, since your church is not into paying pastors, I would think it wouldn't know a normal person from a mouse.

They still think they are something because they have a position. We had it with one guy, but learned from it. The next couple: oh you know noone here comes in leadership as a new plant who just came from another church. If you had such a great ministry there why did you leave? I've seen churches split because of those people, but it was also a mistake from the pastor to put them in leadership.

To the OP, I'm not sure what triggered your question, but I do
know the Holy Spirit has a way of revealing hidden agendas and
bringing them to the light.

Self promoting people just cannot stand up to the scrutiny of the
Holy Spirit. Such people either find themselves at odds with everyone
or circumstances play out in such a way that they are taken out of
the situation.

One thing I would say though is sometimes the problem isn't with the other
person at all, sometimes it is a case of envy, or feeling that toes are being
trod on etc.

While a person might be self promoting and have wrong ideas about themselves.
Equally it could be that a person has a specific talent or gift, they may not even
recognise it themselves but God does and he paves the way for that talent to come
to the forefront and to be used. But people being people they don't always like the
thought that another person might just be able to do something better then them.

I have seen it both ways around and both can be equally messy.

There are lots of verses in the bible to do with promotion and elevation,
including the following.

Luke 14:7-11 NKJV
[7] So He told a parable to those who were invited, when He noted how
they chose the best places, saying to them: [8] "When you are invited
by anyone to a wedding feast, do not sit down in the best place, lest one
more honorable than you be invited by him; [9] and he who invited you
and him come and say to you, 'Give place to this man,' and then you begin
with shame to take the lowest place. [10] But when you are invited, go and
sit down in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes he
may say to you, 'Friend, go up higher.' Then you will have glory in the
presence of those who sit at the table with you. [11] For whoever exalts
himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

I think the reality is, is that people who focus on other peoples shortcomings are doing so to not have to look at their own. I've learned to associate with people who bring light into my life. If I don't jive with someone life is too short to focus on the negative. I just move along.

Social climbers can cause a lot of damage in a church. It's hard to ignore that.

If someone is causing me pain, I will address the issue. They have to expect me to do that, don't they?
People "expect" me to be a lady all the time. I tell you what. They have to get over it, not me! Why in the world do you think you must do what is expected?

The more important issue might be the damage social climbers cause in a church. I don't think ignoring it is the right thing to do.

Or if the social climbers are causing damage in a church – assuming important roles in church government and running the church just for their own glorification, the issue needs to be dealt with. You can see that, can’t you?
No one can damage God's people. He protects his people from whatever would thwart his purposes. And I've seen the results of a Jimmy-Jones type in a church.

(I'm now wondering how many excuses you have.)

John: 7. 17. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. 18. He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

2 Corinthians: 5. 14. For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: 15. And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

2 Corinthians: 13. 4. For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you. 5. Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

My hubby can only dance to rock and roll. I can only dance to disco.
My hubby likes sports. Eeek! After 20 years that rubbed off -- kind of.

He hates bowling, reading fiction, writing, and most crafts. (He did turn me on to stained glass, but he got bored with it quickly, and I kept going.)

He spends hours studying the Word. I'm good at 20-30 minutes.

He likes to cook.

(Fortunately, I like to eat.)

99% of anyone who meets him likes him instantly. (Well, if you remember how we first met, you know I'm acquired taste.

Sometimes it's worth pressing on despite the obvious.

If only you could base what you think on something solid. Is God not able enough to do his will without your help?

All I see you doing is being passive-aggressive and pretending you aren't the issue. Since all I've seen you do since I started noticing you is complain about mysterious "others," I don't see you effecting any change. Merely multiplying the problem.

I still think God will straighten this out, because I know you won't.

When you join my church, you pledge to promote justice, among other things. I need to uphold my pledge. I don't think the Lord wants us to do nothing when we see injustice. Look at what Hitler did. Did the Lord want people to do nothing while Hitler was killing every Jew he could find?

I think the best thing is to pray. A pastor can stop it but don't know if it works if someone warns him. They might also think it's your issue and those people are amazing. My ex was a pastor and he had that happen to him, so he warned another pastor not to do the same thing. He just let a new guy preach that he hardly knew and let him be in leadership. Well it was none of his business. Later they had a church split and he took half of the people with him. Ask God if you have to say something or not and pray that He shows the pastor.

Certainly we have to be praying all the time, but the Lord uses us to accomplish his purposes. Sometimes the pastor is part of the problem.

:8) still i we they remember
as the elders says before . ... :alien:
lucky for them today that they have alies who could rescue them from the hands of those people who were corrupted
by evil things in this reality who brought malice and death . . . . . . ...
even in the past early church where they been hunt by nero's empire.
and as the story goes it is written in the holy scriptures
:read:
Revelation: 6. 9. And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
10. And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? 11. And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

:scarf: and it is the lord god's will his that words is to be written . ...
 but it is up to each and everyone's decision
whether to believe it or not ... .
