For some reason, I notice a lot of people focus on the negative things happening in our societies. But, I wanted to point out a couple of things from the past few days that I have found to be absolute wins for the Christian community.
The first one is the show Dog the Bounty Hunter. When I turned to see what it was about, I didn't know I was going to be reduced to tears of joy. In the episode I watched, an 18 year old girl with only about 8 months to live wanted nothing more than to meet Dog the Bounty Hunter. When he went to see her, the things he said to her were beautiful. He took the time to witness to her how God had changed him from a in and out of jail drug abuser, to a man with a beautiful family who dedicates his life to cleaning up the streets.
While he was talking to her, he gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek and looked her in the eyes and told her how much he loved her (as a sister in Christ). It was shocking to see a big burly man in leather with a platinum blond mullet be so loving and tender to this little girl. When he got back in his car, he was crying. He said having a person's dying wish to be seeing him was the most humbling and heart touching experience of his life.
The most beautiful part about this show is they actually film and air, on cable televison, the family praying to God. The entire team holds hands before and after each hunt and prays for safety, for the ability to catch the bad guys, and to thank God for their many blessings. With all the crap that is on tv these days, I never thought I'd see real praying in a show that wasn't on a christian network.
NEXT!!!
I heard on the radio today that about 200 PUBLIC schools in 43 states have started Bible study classes. It's an entire class dedicated to studying the Bible using a book called (I think this is what they said, but don't quote me) The Bible and You. How awesome is that? Public schools are letting God back in to students who wish to seek Him!
So, today while you pray to God be sure to hold all those who have died or lost everything in the tsunamis and earthquakes in your hearts, as well as thank God for the small victories we have made in the great battle!
Praise God!
