It's all about perception. Already people are claiming that unless a person has a degree in theology, they can't talk about God honestly. People really believe this one one side. And yet, on the other side, they do it all the time themselves.

Marketing is all about showing the benefits and hiding the deterrents. Ellis really is a good marketer.

Stinks big time for theology, but a good marketer.

Which causes more problems than ever needed to be address in the first place. Something of the cares of this world that chokes out the Word. They once heard but the integrity of their eyes dimmed when offered wealth.

As for our Lords House the Mishkan also known as a house of prayer.
Everyone brought a contribution...too much actually.

1. The credentials for the "academic Paul Ellis" are very specific and detailed in every possible way.

2. The credentials for the "religious author Paul Ellis" are very vague, nebulous, sketchy, and so vague that nothing said can be verified.

3. Nowhere have we found any specific, verifiable link, that both of these people are the same person.... and there should be many many many links of all varieties.



* Maybe it's the same person, and maybe the credentials all check out fine.

* But just for the record, let's say that just maybe I was pretending to be someone else... this is exactly how I would do it.

I really don't know why I get into these discussions at all.

I am somebody else though.

I went to college to become a high school English teacher, but I suck at grammar. Too late to know, so I got the degree and couldn't be a teacher.

What did I do? Reinvent myself. I got a job at a drug rehab center to go to schools and teach effective education.

Not a lot of call for effective education teachers, so what could I do with what I had? I had worked for a drug rehab center, so my next job was counselor at a runaway/throwaway center. From there, double the social work experience, so became a group home parent.

Social work is very heavy-weighted, if you're someone like me -- forever empathetic and Mama bear like. So, I didn't want to do it anymore.

Next me was a telemarketer. Again, marketing background, so I'm good. I can sell heaters to people living on the Equator, if it didn't bother me. But, telemarketer! It's boring!

So, I remade myself again. Communications degree, so I can write, and selling background. I got those things working for me to get a job as copywriter for an ad agency. The deal was simple. I'd get him appointments for new clients and he'd teach me to be a copywriter.

And my next job was the assistant to the maintenance manager for a property management outfit, so I'm very good at defining what they need with what I have. lol

My entire work history looks like this. I don't lie with my resume. (Even wrote resumes for a living at one point. lol) I accentuate what the potential boss wants from an employee, and make the negatives so soft that no one notices those negatives. My last job was bookkeeper, and I had absolutely no office training in school, once more bookkeeping classes. I just kept telling where my background fit into what that particular business wanted.

Same thing Ellis is doing.

The main difference is every job I did take, I took because I knew I could do it with training, and during interviews my future employer knew I had to be trained in-house. Ellis took a job he CAN'T do and is making a mint from suckers who don't know he can't do it!

He's correcting "four myths." That sentence is supposedly a myth. Of course we can agree with that sentence. It's the lies after that sentence, explaining why the sentence isn't true that we're complaining about. He is teaching us that sentence is a lie!

Hi Finaldesire., This is where the major differences are I believe with many Christians. I know now and believe the truth that because of Jesus and His gift of salvation to us... God is never going to "destroy" me nor will He ever have a desire to destroy me. Or any of us.

He sent Jesus just so we do not have to be judged and destroyed. And He has recorded all through the Bible about His steadfast love and grace for us because of Jesus. Why not believe Him and rest and even bask in His love every day of our lives?? In Hebrews He gives us an iron clad promise and even an oath! We have a sure foundation and a Anchor for our souls!

Why do you and so many here visiting this thread think He would destroy us after all He has done to show us otherwise?? Jesus is the way we have already been "purged" and made righteous in Him. Now we are new creations.. old things have passed away behold all things have become new. There is no more condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.

The problem with many Christians today is they don't have this wonderful knowledge and because of that they are slowly dying. The Bible says my people die for lack of knowledge. The Gospel is the good news! Not the bad news.

Just calling to day to say here on this thread that Jesus has made our way clear.., now we simply follow Him through life. We have a new and living way to live. Set free from the law of sin and death and now able to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit.

It was not my intention to dispute anyone, but to give a unbiased view of Gods intent. As much as we love to cling to the Lords protective hand, it is by the same hand he will dish out sore punishment.
I know a man who has been a alcoholic most of his life, for whatever reason he drank to excess. Now he has only a short time to live, and because of his behavior this verse has come true.

See it says that God will destroy that person, and he has done that very thing. But here is the strange thing, even after the doctors gave this man 6 months to live, he has lived a while longer, but he continues to drink.

What is God to do with someone such as this?

I don't think that is a completely fair summation brother.

Joanie knows that I love her as a sister in Christ, but I believe she has gone waaay off the rails with the health and prosperity doctrines, and some of the takes on Job are quite frankly bizarre and beyond a stretch.

Having said that, as frustrating as we may become on an issue, I will say Joanie always responds in a cordial, nonhurtful way, even when others have not. This is a huge credit to her, and I think helps her position as wrong as I think that position is.

Surely you know how much I love you Ed, however, disagreeing here. Passive-aggressive isn't cordial nor nonhurtful. She does tend to play up the victim and then paint those who disagree with her as wolves.

#3: God gives us sickness and suffering to teach us character

Satan’s aim was to trick God into harming Job, something that God would never do. Although Job thought God was responsible for his loss, God sent Elihu to set him straight. Elihu is a picture of Jesus who went around “healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him” (Acts 10:38). Jesus doesn’t give sickness; he takes it from us.

#4: God “allows” sickness and suffering to afflict us

God does not work for the devil. If God gave the thief permission to rob you, he wouldn’t be a thief.
First Adam lost control of the planet, but last Adam took back what the devil stole. In Christ you are destined to reign like a king (Rom 5:17). But you won’t reign if you heed the lies above and follow Job instead of Jesus.

I didn't read it. However just for you I will do it. But a bit later. Am attending meetings right now, and am taking a break to relax. So am a bit busy.

But, my belief is that God is my healer, my provider, and He delights in meeting all our needs for spiritually, we are as in Eden again, Paradise and will be physically when we leave this world.

He spoke this to me. "I am a King, and you are my daughter. You can expect to receive the benefits of living in My kingdom now".

I was in my early 40's. Single. And became disabled and unable to work. My children had left and I had no money. I lost everything, moved in with my mother. But, a yr later, had a home completely paid for and all I needed to set it up.

My husband and I have been blessed from the very beginning of our marriage. I could write a book about the miracles.

Hello joaniemarie, I loved it when you talked about the patriarchs shortcomings: I’m so glad his story is in the Bible because it shows us that despite our weaknesses and shortcomings, God is still compassionate and merciful. He does not treat us as our sins deserve but he loves us like a father and wants the very best for us.

We are given examples of faith, but we are shown that they have weaknesses: even expressed lack of faith at times. Like Abraham between the time he left Ur, in faith, and the time he almost offered Isaac as a burnt offering:

Gen. 20:1,2: "And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar. And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah."

He did this because he was afraid that Sarah's beauty would get him killed, so the king could have his wife. The rest of that chapter show God's reaction to the affair. We are shown one of David's weaknesses with his ordeal with Bathsheba. God had to send a prophet to reprove him.

Hi Deade., I cannot imagine how Sarah must have felt when Abraham asked her to do that. She could have been raped or worse left there! God was not pleased with Abraham at all but who did God get angry at? The King!! God protects His people. And Abraham did this 2 times! I think once when Sarah was in her 60s and then again in her 90s?

Interesting too how Abraham was under a different covenant than David. I'm still learning about the different covenants. Am very thankful we are in the covenant of grace. Post Cross. Your post was very nice thank you for the lovely picture and verse.
