Colossians 2:16-17 Let no one judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a feast, a New Moon, or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the body that casts it belongs to Christ.

Again, the Jewish calendar numbers the days of the week: Day One, Day Two etc. The Jewish people rest on the Seventh day of the week, which is called Sabbath day -- a day of rest. Gentiles are not obligated to rest on any day of the week at all. There is nothing in the Bible that tells us to rest on the Seventh day of the week. Resting on the Seventh day of the week is a Jewish "statute" not a Jewish commandment.

The day of the week is irrelevant for a Gentile follower of Jesus because we are free in Christ. We have no obligation to perform any form of religious ritual at all.
Do you say the same about all the 10 commandments?

Jesus said the sabbath (which is the 7th day) was made for man.
The sabbath was made at creation.

Heb 4:8-10
8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

Verse 9 states "There remaineth therefore a rest " rest = sabbatismos
....a keeping sabbath

There remains a sabbath keeping.

Verse 10 "he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his."

God did not rest in Christ or rest in freedom from sin.. God rested from labour at creation. God's rested from works. So we are asked to cease our works AS GOD DID FROM HIS.

This is a command in the new Testament to cease our works and rest like God did at creation.

And many nations shall go, and say, Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house (οἶκος) of the God of Jacob; and they shall shew us his way, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Sion shall go forth a law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. Micah 4:2
But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house (οἶκος) of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. 1 Timothy 3:15

nice try but no cigar

Remember the words of Christ: "You must be born again". And Hebrews tells us that the time of salvation is Now.
1Jn 5:17-18
17 All unrighteousness is sin:... 18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
1Jn 3:6-9
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. 7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Being born again = born of God.
Bring born of God = not sinning.

You need to know what sin is to avoid it.

1Jn 3:3-4
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. 4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

You are deluded. You are lost and you will face God as judge, not as justifier. You are kidding yourself if you think you are obeying Christ. You do not have the ability to keep even the law of Moses. God's standard of righteousness is much higher than the written law.

People like you get salvation back to front. You think that you must live the righteous life in order to be saved. In reality, it is the reverse. You need to be born again before you have the enabling to live righteously. The Holy Spirit is in effect the Lord Jesus.

God's word, especially the New Testament, is written to those who are born again. Do you not know that the last word that Lord Jesus gave to the 12 was to bring in the New Covenant in His blood? Do you not know that Lord Jesus cried out, "It is finished!" from the cross, just before He died? I am not trying to condemn you. You do that yourself. I am trying to save you. It grieves me to know that you are so near to the truth and yet so far from God.

Remember the words of Christ: "You must be born again". And Hebrews tells us that the time of salvation is Now.
being "born from above" is what I am waiting for

If you had the Holy Spirit in you, you would love the Law of God and would be able to obey

Christ kept the law without one sin because He had the Father's spirit without measure.
I have a small measure, but enough to keep and love My Father's Holy Law, not perfectly but after the first Resurrection -- perfectly.

the MANY reject the Holy, righteous and Good, as per Paul, Law of God
it is only the Few, the little flock of Jesus Christ that love and DO
Why is it The Many are told by Christ "I never knew you"? you that work iniquity i.e lawlessness

That Day and Hour of sudden destruction is much much closer the Many believe, Christ died 2000 years age ago, 2 days to God.

"For through the law I died to the law so that I might live to God." Galatians 2:19. Tell me what laws apply to dead people?
Tell me which law a dead person would transgress.. ? None.

But we are talking about the flesh

Like the conversation with Nicodemus...

Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

It wasn't literal birth it is Spiritual.

Death to the flesh = living in the Spirit

When you walk in the Spirit you do not need to worry about transgressing the law because the Holy Spirit leads you.

Rom 8:6-9
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

We have become dead to the law by dying to the flesh... the law hasn't died.
But the law no longer convicts us when we are dead to self and the flesh.

Gal 5:16-17
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Died to the law = dead to the penalty of the law.. dead to the guilt of transgressing the law. ... the law has no power to convict you as a sinner because you are walking in the Spirit.

Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

They were sitting in the house of God under the porch where all of the different sects gathered, prayed and taught. The spirit would not have been poured out on a private dwelling

you are overlooking important facts, they were afraid, they hid, their leader had been killed and they could be next,
Christ instructed them to "wait until the helper comes". i.e. do nothing until then.
they were not trying to convert anyone, they were afraid
they had no idea what to do until they were laid hands of by the Father on Pentecost.
Pentecost was the beginning of the Church of God the Father, the Church of the First Fruits
Until the 120 were given the Holy Spirit - they waited

without the HOLY Spirit imbuing them with Power from above, they could do nothing, no power from above.

this is where they were until they were given the power.

13 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.
14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his (Christ's) brethren.

quote the verse showing they were in the temple for the Feast of Pentecost or even at other times after the Resurrection.
What would they have been doing,, they did not know until Pentecost.

you are overlooking important facts, they were afraid, they hid, their leader had been killed and they could be next,

They were not being persecuted at that time. All of the Jews from all nations who heard them speaking in tongues would have been gathered at the temple at 9AM on Pentecost, not outside some private dwelling.

Where does it say that the 10 commandments were abolished?
..........by abolishing in His flesh the law of commandments and decrees. He did this to create in Himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace....... Ephesians 2:15. That's where.
Tell me which law a dead person would transgress.. ? None.

"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus." These words were added by the KJV translators: "who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

I don't have a problem with what you've said. The problem is that too many somehow assume that walking in the Spirit means obeying all the commandments. I am not sure that I could quote the 10 commandments accurately. That's how much they matter to me. However, I am led by the Spirit. I don't always get it right. I am not perfect. But I can promise you that not once in 54 years has God told me to go to church on the Sabbath. I don't get convicted when I turn on the lights or turn them off. And that is the problem with the law. Someone has to decide what it means.

For the believer, the law is unnecessary. It was put in charge to lead us to Christ. It's done its job.

No, i agree with scripture that most followed what the pharisees said. Even the disciples did until Jesus came because the pharisees were the teachers of Israel
That's right until jesus came.....dont know why you run in circles. You make it a habit of dropping bombs on people's comments.

How will you learn what is right??,, we are now at the end of 6000 years and about to blow up the planet -- the human race has learn how to kill and that is about it.

You think you're smart enough to learn what is right --- show me one person that has reached that point? Ever!
there is one --- and one only -- - Jesus Christ but He was following the Father's will, not His own.
Even Moses did not make it. but you can??

good luck
Our problem is not a lack of knowledge about what is right. We know what is right. Our problem is that we are sinners. We either do the wrong thing naturally or willfully.

The primary reason God gave Israel a moral law was not to teach them righteousness; it was to establish for Himself a holy people.

Resting on the Seventh day is a feature of that covenant relationship. It defines Israel as his holy people. Israel obeyed the weekly Sabbath, not because it was inherently moral or righteous. They observed the Sabbath because of their covenant obligation.

That's right until jesus came.....dont know why you run in circles. You make it a habit of dropping bombs on people's comments.

That truth bomb was dropped to correct the point you seemed to be trying to make that resistance to the gospel was only from a few pharisees. Most of the populace did what the pharisees told them to do out of fear of being kicked out of the synagogues and having their lives ruined.

Mark 2:27 And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. 28Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.”

The Sabbath was made for man not for the Jews...at creation.
You think Jesus was talking about all men? Isn't it possible that he was being specific to the Jewish people?

Do you say the same about all the 10 commandments?
Yes, my point is that the Mosaic Covenant contained Commandments, statutes, and ordinances. The 10 commandments are included in the Mosaic covenant. The rule about resting on the Seventh day is not a "commandment" as such. It is a statute. Gentiles are obligated to be righteous according to the morality defined in the Mosaic covenant. But they are not obligated to observe the statutes associated with it. Those in Christ are free from all religious rites and practices.
Jesus said the sabbath (which is the 7th day) was made for man.
The sabbath was made at creation.
Yes, God rested on the Seventh Day. This became the model example for his covenant people. They rested every seventh day because God rested on Day Seven. In my view, Jesus is speaking into a Jewish context so that when he says that the Sabbath was made for man, he is speaking about the covenant people. It was made for them.

The Bible doesn't teach that the Sabbath was made for the Gentiles. In fact, Paul teaches that even Jewish believers are no longer under law but under grace. We live according to the Spirit and practice love, patience, kindness, and etc. against which there is no law.

That is not what Paul meant. He is talking about a rest from warfare. When God brings Israel back into the land, he will give Israel a rest from warfare, destruction, pain, and sorrow.

Apples and oranges. Resting every seventh day of the week is not a moral issue; it is a civil issue association with the Mosaic Covenant.
