I wanted to share this, I hope no one minds.

My Mom and Aunt are from Sweden. My Grandmother was American but her family moved back to Sweden when she was a young girl to help out my Great Grandfather's parents who lived there.

My Grandmother was married while she was there and they had two children together, my Mom and Aunt. When my Mom was 10 my Grandfather got into some trouble and went to jail. My Great Grandparents who had returned to America thought it would be best for my Grandmother and her children to live with them in America. So they left Sweden. My Grandparents divorced and my Mom never saw her Father again.

My Mother's Uncle still lives in Sweden, his wife knew my Grandfather re married and had two children, a boy and a girl. My Mom is not computer savvy and didn't have a lot of interest in finding them for some reason. My Aunt has always wanted to.

Well the good news is they found my Sister and my Aunt on Facebook! So after all these years I finally get to meet via Facebook, my Aunt and Uncle.

I'm so happy about this. It's really a blessing. My Mom is very happy too.

I have a similar story. My uncle went to Germany and married a German woman and they never came to visit us, but we would call once in a while. Later on my uncle died in a car accident and we completely lost contact with his wife and children n' then after 20 years we were able to track them down and contact them. And the children were so happy for finding their family that reminds them with their dad. It turns out my uncle had a daughter who is exactly my age and a son who is my sister's age. :o

That's awesome! I am not sure if I'll ever meet these two face to face, but it would be neat. I've already seen photos of my Grandfather whom I never met in color. I've only ever seen black and white photos of him. I want to learn more about him.The only things I've ever known is that he is the oldest of 13 kids, he was an alcoholic and went to jail. I want to know if he was able to get sober and live a good life.
 
You are right Fenner, if I were you I would wanna know better memories about my grandfather other than him being drunk and gone to jail. He must have been a good man as well. We all make mistakes in life. :)

It was cool to get to chat with her a bit. I can translate what she posts on FB too. Also friend ed my Uncle, but haven't talked to him yet. He's older, I'm curious as to what happened to my Grandfather. I know he died, but was he a good husband? Was he a good dad? My Mom remembers him and say's he loved her and my Aunt very much and was good to them. Unfortunately he wasn't so nice to my Grandmother all the time, he'd drink and hit her. I didn't like that.
