I know I post lot. But I have to get this of my chest..
I've went to school for 12 years in Denmark, where i lived all of my life. My dad was american before he passed away, but he was an atheist. My mom is an atheist. And everyone is here, friends, foster family, ETC.
I just realized just before.. That, EVERYTHING i've been taught in school is lies and predujices, you know what i mean?
Like ALL of my teachers litteraly said "pss, christianity, yeah what a good thing to learn kids" (Like they all have depprisive attitudes here.). And they gave us that.
I dont know what to do honestly. I feel like grabbing my bag, and travel to the US, and be 'saved' from this madness im living in. Not that some people are not being told lies in school there too, but I dont know..
It's just much to realize that everything i was taught is a lie. Each step I take closer to christianity, it makes more sense, but it's also scary, cause im all alone about it. and I know all of the other people are wrong (I dont confront them, why would I. I know they will laugh AND mostly look down on me, if i say i wanna be religious).
I do have an american passport. So I guess with money in some years its possible to travel to the US.
It's just depressing knowing (I start on College on monday, and i chose philosophy, and religion etc) that my guider, my teacher, my role-model almost, is learning me things that shouldnt be taught to anyone.

Just come back often and ask whatever you like, you're among 'fellow' christians here. :)

Btw, it's understandable you want to go, but you really don't HAVE to go to the US to be a christian.

♡♡♡ dunno what to say right now but God really does love you and Yeshua knows what it is to be lonely. you are never alone when you let him be your role-model. even if you feel that way. as challenging as it is at times, try to let him in and give you peace. we're all, us believers, in the same boat.

Thanks. :)
Btw 7th line "Like ALL of my teachers litteraly said "pss, christianity, yeah what a good thing to learn kids" (Like they all have depprisive attitudes here.). And they gave us that. "
Thats meant as ironic, as in they were being sarcastic when saying "Christianity is a good thing" cause they hated it, and shared their predujices and hatred towards the kids.

I don't know where you are in Denmark but there are Christian churches there. You need to get involved in one then you won't feel as if you are the only one.

Also many colleges here in the US are secular and teach the opposite of the bible. The Christian colleges are more expensive and many can't afford it. So there are a lot of young Christians going through what you are. All I can say is stay close to God and read your bible daily to uplift yourself with the Word.

Yeah, many, many American professors are quite outspoken Against Christianity here. And often hold it against students who are believers. American colleges and universities are often quite hostile towards Christians in the classroom here.

Don't worry about posting a lot, you are welcome here. Forums are for posting and people who post lots keep forums alive. I'll second the claim that church involvement is critical. Find a church and go. I imagine if you want to change your area of study you still can, though I'm not sure how Danish universities are set up. One of the most encouraging books I read when it comes to feeling overwhelmed by the culture wars and the elitist (i.e. better and smarter than you foolish christians) attitude is called We don't speak great things we live them. It's a modernized copy of two of the earliest Christian writings and reading it I found out that a lot of "modern issues" were also present in ancient Rome and the early christians had a position on them. You can read the original writings online using the following links (but the English may be pretty complicated):

Octavius of Minucius Felix (Roberts-Donaldson)

Saint Justin Martyr: First Apology (Roberts-Donaldson)

I guess looking toward college you have two choices, to sit in silence in class and just keep telling yourself that what you are being told is a lie. And to educate yourself on all the support for Christianity and become the student all the professors don't want to have because you will challenge their assumptions and ask the hard questions.

The only other thing I want to say is please don't think of the US as some sort of Christian Utopia. It is not. People are pretty much the same wherever you go as far as being selfish, wanting to justify themselves, and wanting and easy comfortable life. In some ways we may still be one of the most christian nations on the planet, but you just need to wander around these forums to hear stories from those living in America about single people in christian ministry wanting to set up a friends with benefits type of situation for convenient sex, ministers who are abusive and controlling husbands, and christians enslaved to addictions. Certainly all is not perfect in American Christian life.

Jakob,

I know exactly how it feels to be so alone in your walk with Christ. Many people say "You don't need to go to church to be a christian" and I totally agree, however it's very nice to be able to have fellowship with those that have something in common with you. Like, I cannot stress the importance of finding a great church. If you really feel like you need to go to the US in order to give yourself a better life, feel free too. But I bet there are some great churches in your area that you can attend as well. If you want to move to America, but don't have the means, you should consider going to college here. I know that no one wants to have loans, but in your case, they could help, if that's really what you want. Also, a lot of us here on CC are lonely, and that's why the internet is such a lovely place. We're all here for you, you're never alone.

Xo

Hey Jakob! I know it is difficult to be the "one man army", when everyone around you is fallen. But think about how God has been strengthening you in your fight. You are in CC, which is a good place if you need some encouragement and prayers. Also, I am sure that God touches you through other ways - when you listen to songs, when you pray or when you read the Bible. So cheer up!

Another thing is that you must re-consider your desire to move to the US because you think that it is a religious country. These days there is a global backsliding which is taking place. People are more open towards being secular, moral relativism and "politically correct" rather than following what is right. Any country which was once founded on the pillars of Christianity is now being conquered by secularism and Islam. It is better that you stay and fight in your own place rather than go elsewhere and be disappointed. Of course, if you want to go there for a better standard of living, then that is fine. But I doubt if that is your purpose because Denmark is supposed to be the world's happiest country. :)

Thanks Roh_Chris. That actually made a lot of sense to me.
And you're right.
The thing about Denmark is that we're having the attitude with "There's a god? Oh who cares"
"You believe in a God, oh who cares" ya know what I mean? And sub-conciously looking down on people. And I guess looking down on people makes you happy (If you're taught to be arrogant, and think you know better) like we are in schools etc :P

Well God states in the bible that we are to be a "peculiar people" in that we strive to do right instead of wrong so yeah it can feel like you are alone, but try to remember when all others forsake you,you have 3 whom shall always care for you and guide you,God,Jesus, and the holy spirit,so really you are never alone, just try to keep moving forward jakob!
