The magazines were hyping up this 'shock move' as something terrible that would happen to the country and bring down the entire monarchy etc. I mean really?! Whatever.

Glousterceshire.
Glostershire

Not to be confused with Glastonbury, which is a mud pit.

I'm a bit surprised that Posh Spice aka Victoria Beckham and her husband wasn't also involved. Or maybe they are and don't want the publicity.

Harry is now going to do the school run and be a stay at home dad...
Meghan is going to be the breadwinner somehow by making jam, to go with her bread.

Let's hope the scaled-down non-working ordinary unRoyals can make it work this time without all the hullabaloo.

In the latest NZ Woman's Weekly, there were two two-page spreads, one of William and his family, and another of Harry and his family

The one about William was all about his being a dad and how it was the greatest role of his life.
The one about Harry was all about his move back to the UK, to be with his dad, but failed to mention that Harry is.... also a dad!

So yea..Dad's are gonna Dad.

Also, big brothers it seems are always gonna boss and beat up on little ones, well most of the time. It seems Wills is still grumps because Harry squealed on him. Or as he put it 'betrayed him" Well what do you expect? You beat up on you little brother for having the audacity to marry someone else that you might not approve of and just expect him to keep quiet about it? Does he need your...permission?

What else was Harry meant to do, not get married and just be a servant to his big brother, have him tell him what to do all the time for the rest of his life, or beat up on him when he invariably does the 'wrong' thing and wants a life of his own with someone else. Harry already had other girlfriends who wouldn't marry him because of the whole public life in the spotlight thing.

Anyway, it's kind of giving me brain damage of just how controlling William wants to be about his brother. Which only ends up pushing him away. They are both Dads now. So just let them be the best Dads they can be.

Also..August 31. Diana Forever.

Proverbs 10:12 -13

Hatred stirreth up strifes, but love covereth all sins
In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding

NZ Woman's Weekly is heavily skewed towards William and Catherines side of the story - claiming what Harry and Meghan have spoken about were 'allegations' implying they weren't even true. Or that they 'stole the spotlight' as it seems William was jealous when Harry and Meghan had all the media attention on them. But I don't know if they can put a gag order on the couple.

The Wales can't forgive the Sussexes. Why not?? Or should it be ...the Sussexes should forgive the Wales?

If Harry had never penned Spare, or if they'd never done the Oprah interview, or the Netflix doco, all we'd know is they'd left the country to spend time in California for 6 years and returned.

What exactly did Harry and Meghan do that was wrong? If anything they were hurt and treated badly much more than William and Catherine ever were. Why should it be that you are not allowed to speak out if someone does something wrong with you and they don't even know it was wrong, or even realise how mean they are, and they don't acknowledge the hurt it caused you.

Matthew 19 comes to mind. If you can't reconcile or sort it out alone...take someone with you (as a witness), if still can't you tell it to the church (or everyone) ...and if nothing happens or they won't listen...separate and treat the offender like a tax collector.

Why is William still so angers that Harry got married and now has his own family. Is it all just a stupid popularity contest like it seems to be?

Come on William, show a bit of heart for your little brother. The cruelest thing William did to Harry (in Spare) was practically leave him to the wolves on his first day of school. He totally snubbed Harry and left him to fend for himself saying he didn't want to know him. And that is pretty much how William has been treating Harry up to this day if he Harry didn't do exactly what William wanted.

Huh no news well I hadn't heard anything major from the Royals in a while so..looking up the latest, King Charles has sent a letter to his son and wife Meghan spelling out that they are still not allowed to work as a Royal i.e use public money for engagements or public appearances.

I think its for the best, if they want to remain private citizens and also, not have paps and media harass Meghan and their children

Am sure if Meghan returns to acting, she could do voice overs or other kinds of acting (if in demand) maybe even American costume dramas or something. And her home/lifestyle brand she set up could continue earning a bit of revenue. Fergie does things all the time like that and she is no longer Royal..although Fergie probably isn't the best example as she has debt problems.

They'll just have to live a scaled-down simpler lifestyle in the UK. If that is possible. Rescue some dogs from Battersea. Become more involved with running the Invictus Games. Do some more charity work in Africa or something...Not sure what people could pay or employ Harry to do but surely he can find ways to do things without having to hustle/grift or rely on rich friends/relatives to bail him out. The Polo documentary bombed because many people can't relate or care about the insanely wealthy people who play it.
They need to do documentaries about landmines or their charitable causes or something like that. Carry on with what Princess Diana did with her humanitarian work but try to keep behind the scenes/without fanfare.

Public service is not for everyone. Even those somewhat born in to it. Am sure whatever they put their mind to, they'll give it a go and may find something that works.

Harry and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) collab in the wings??

Children's books are the way to go. Also if they do that, they can get into Queen Camilla's good books promoting reading esp to Children. Meghans and Harry's literary efforts need a bit more flair and creativity than The Bench and Spare, and not just be about themselves.

Harry has the namesake of the most famous children's book series in the world! Surely he could do something with JK Rowling, also a ginger. (Not sure if Harry is into Harry Potter, but his children might be) or David Walliams or someone like that. World's Worst Royals?

I always thought they could do a series like Sussex adventures in Africa. And maybe it could involve....giraffes!

They need to speak to Julie Andrews. Famous people writing children's books is a little niche, but her books are not just picture books. And of course, she's the one who wrote the book about Whangdoodles.

News is all about Prince George's first day at Eton. News has photo of him and his parents walking to school, even though Prince George is actually boarding.

Presumably all the other children are back to school or starting school the same week. Harry and Meghan's children are going to schools in the Cotswalds area (where famous UK celebs live) . They have probably scoped out the place and told everyone not to take any photos of them.

Wonder if William has found it in his heart to forgive Harry yet. Come on does someone have to die before they can be forgiven?? Harry's not going to steal the throne, he doesn't even want it. He just wants to live his best life and be a. good husband and father.

Personally I think William ought to be the one to forgive Harry, even Jesus asked God to forgive those who hurt him because 'they didn't know what they were doing'. Well do you think Harry knew what he was doing, despite never actually been properly trained to take on royal duties of a King? All he knew was how to be a soldier in the army. Harry is not a servant to his brother...don't Kings and heirs to Kings have equerries for that job?

We all know Harry is or was the spare. It was drummed into him from a very young age he was not going to be King. So William what exactly is your beef with Harry?

Maybe I should start a thread called 'Heir' so as to be fair to William.

I don't really know that much about him. He keeps a fairly low profile for an heir to the throne.
Ok I know a bit more about him than ordinary people, but I don't really know what he's like personality or character-wise.

His mother mostly left him to the care of his father, she famously said to her husband..you look after the heir, I'll take care of the spare.

He's around my age, slightly younger. I once had a dream about him. It was weird, as at the time I gave him hardly any thought. I dreamed that he flew his helicopter over to my house and landed near (maybe the park or reserve?) and hopped out, came to my door, and gave me a flaming torch. Like an olympic torch.

I was wondering 'why me'? Aren't you married...to Kate?

lol

Aside from the fact by first bf was had the same name and was from the UK, I don't think they were anything alike. Well actually the more I think about it, his mother died when he was young too. (the bf William) The whole reason he was in NZ was because his mother had recently died and he wanted to get away and do all the things he wanted to do, like go on adventures.

I never dreamed about Harry.

Now sometimes we have annoying helicopters flying round at night and in the back of my mind it could be Prince William (now Duke of Cambridge) flying, spying on me and my house.

I've decided William needs his own thread, despite never writing a tell-all book like every other royal/former royal

I know in the UK you are supposed to use titles, like His Royal Highness or His Majesty, but I'm sure when writing about people on CC its ok to use their Christian names.

I mean even pastors these days are not called Reverend.

Also, Harry DID receive an inheritance - from his mother and grandmother. But there won't be any from his father. Some kind of rule that can only be for the Firstborn in the line of succession.

His mother also received something like a 34 million pound settlement from her divorce. I'm sure she couldn't have spent it all, that would set someone up for life....an unimaginable amount of money for an ordinary person...

Did you know when you meet a Royal you are meant to bow or curtsey to them? They are higher in the pecking order than you (thats why they are called this His or Her Royal Highness) and you are never meant to turn your back on them or look down on them.

Poor Meghan did not know this being from the US where people don't ever do this. Instead it seems Americans shake hands vigourously or give high fives. Or even give bear hugs.

French people kiss on both cheeks.

There is also a 'Royal wave' which is not waving your arms and hands like a windmill or a peace sign, but more of a side turn of the wrist showing your palm. The Queen used to wear white gloves so as not to get her hands dirty touching people.

They probably got a shock coming to NZ, where Maori stuck their tongues out at them, and threw eggs (the first time) but after getting to know them, felt close enough to touch noses.

Harry is also been known to do the Royal Wave, there are photos of him doing so, but out of respect for his privacy from photo ops, I won't post any of him here.

It's not unknown tho for royals to unRoyal themselves, King Edward famously abdicated himself after only a 10 months of being King to marry his divorcee American wife Mrs Wallis Simpson, who after this most notorius departure was known as the Most Hated Woman in the UK.

They weren't allowed to settle in the US though and had to exile themselves to the Ritz Hotel in Paris. France. No children, only dogs...pugs not corgies or dorgies.

Then his little brother 'Bertie' aka George became King instead. The spare.

This official letter..which he himself wrote and signed meant he could no longer work as a King or represent the country.

Harry didn't write or sign and official letter signing away his Royal status or title. I guess the memoir and his Oprah interview were enough to indicate he wanted to leave his role behind. The thing is Edward and Wallis were totally ostracised by the spare Royal family for his decision, were not invited to any garden parties, couldn't go to the races at Ascot, or own any land in the UK. Wallis or as she was known as the Duchess, didn't care about these things so much, from reading HER memoir it was all about housekeeping/decorating a palace. She wanted all the creature comforts but not the responsiblilty or duty of being Queen.

It was probably too much to expect of anyone anyway. Not everyone wants the job.

For me,it's a matter of being weary of their victim complex. Harry and his wife both.

When asked in an interview shortly after he removed himself from succession,he was asked why he also did not abdicate his royal title?

His answer? What good would that do?

Consistency, Harry. Consistency.
You don't want to be in line for the throne anymore so,renounce the title that went with your former station.

I can't keep up, I think he was stripped of it, like his mother was when she divorced.

Honestly, nobody outside of the UK would call him His Royal Highness. Probably even the servants if he even has any, would just call him Harry.

I don't think Meghan should be using the 'Duchess of Sussex' title as that makes zero sense, for someone not in charge of any Duchy or owing the entire land/county/district or Sussex or even living there.

I get that when you are part of the Royal family, you inherit or have access to incredible amounts of land/riches but its not all going to be divided equally, plus its a huge responsibilty to be in effect a landlord of a entire Kingdom/nation. It's like being the Mayor, you have to be present, and available, and get along with your subjects. You can't boast about how rich you personally are, whatever you do is meant to be for the good of your realm and the people in it.

So if the people living in your town which you are the nominal head of - you are like its advocate or ambassador, and do all the ceremonial functions like award citizens for good works, make friends with sister cities, look after your subjects health and wellbeing, open hospitals, schools, and other civic buildings. You need to take an interest in the civic affairs and public life of whatever people are actually going to see you for.

Its not a political role though, you don't get to make the legislation, but carry on the good traditions that have made your area what it is for centuries. Otherwise, your castle is gonna fall down, right?

I just want to add. that it is an immense privelige and an honor to be Royal or recognised as such. Even when you are born into it, you are only there or seen as such through the goodwill of your subjects, who in effect, pay taxes so you can keep up appearances.

In the Bible, people paid tribute and the whole legend of King David and Solomon comes about because David fought for his nation, defeated Golitah, and was able to calm the previous King, while Solomon, who inherited the title, sought God's wisdom.

Then all the nations paid tribute to what. they recognised as God's anointed, presiding over His temple. However the downfall and split of those monarchies is a huge lesson on what NOT to do.

There's something very fake about Meghan.Just rubs the wrong way.

She was an actor in an American TV series before she got with Harry.
In an interview after they got together she claimed when they first met,she didn't know who he was.
🤥
I think she just meant they were set up on a blind date, and she didn't know who he was going to be until she met him. But surely she would have recognised him at least when they did meet. 🤷‍♀️
