I came across a bee trapped in a spider's web.
He thought I was his foe and the spider his friend.

No said he, when I said I'd set him free, don't do that!
The spider promised me sweet nectar and a new top hat.

Bee, I said, listen to me this will surely be your end
But the bee being a stubborn bee could not comprehend

Sequel:

Bee Bee what have you done?

There was a pesky pest, but I stung him in his side.
They took him to his place of rest where he now abides.

I'm hungry, said the spider with an uncomfortable grin.
You will be my dinner, I'll put your carcass in the bin.

No no, said the Bee, what have I done to you?
I did everything you asked, I was true.

I don't know why Caterpillar would want to set you free.
You've been a fool from the start as you will soon see.

When I invited you in you did not hesitate.
All you could think of was that sweet nectar cake.

I gave you my rules fair and square.
You promptly agreed, you did not care.

So eager you have been for earthly things.
You haven't even noticed that you've lost your wings.

The game I played with you was a deadly trap.
You lost bit by bit when I said do this and that.

Here you are, all tangled in my web.
Yet you think of it as a comfortable bed.

Now you know what's what, you need to pray.
If you are lucky, I'll be rejected on this day.

Who do I pray to, Spider, if it is not to you?
Pray to the Butterfly that you put your stinger through.
