Spirit of Your Mind...

Hey guys ...ladies,
I'm doing a lil' study on the Soul, the spirit (NOT the Holy Spirit), your spirit, heart and mind and how they all correlate with this walk of faith as for as purpose, distinction and essence. Any input?

Im trying to think of a simple way to answer this. I guess the the best way is that I spent alot of my life fighting myself, wanting Jesus first but also wanting the world also. Over the years with the help and grace of our Lord Jesus and a willing spirit, the spirit is winning. I find myself more spirit than body every day. I take care of the body better because it is a temple but I seem to be bigger than the body. The streangth of my spirit over rides the body in what I seek, need and want. All I want is our Lord Jesus, our Father and his spirit in all I see, do, think and eat or drink. God bless, pickles

Since you said ladies , lol... Off the top of my head the verse that comes to mind is taken from Hebrews 4:12-

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

This denotes that the soul and spirit are separate.

Galations 5:17 also states :

For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.


I think the soul represents our flesh. Although our soul will go to heaven or hell (make your choice). It resides in the physical body and determines its choices.

One of my all time favorite verses in the bible is Romans 12: 1& 2

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

This tells us that the mind is in need of regeneration. This topic is largely covered in a good portion of Paul's writings.

Sooooo, is it fair to say that the soul is made of your heart, mind and spirit?
Not specifically my belief, just trying to understand you...

Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Is this implication that they are all separate entities or the same?

Your study sounds beautiful you'll have to let me know what you learn. If I were you doing this study I would find Bible verses that discuss the soul and perhaps different bible scholars on the subject. Your idea is very inspiring.

The Soul
·Needed fact of life

·It’s the combination of Feeling, thought, and action in humans

·It’s Separate from the body

·Spiritual part of human





The Spirit
·Needed fact of conscious life
Jas 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.


·The part of a human associated with the mind, will, and feelings


·Mediates/acts between body and soul to effect an agreement in action


·Inhabitance of the soul regarding to separation of the body at death

Also there are scriptures of the spiritual bodies…

Eph 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
·Also the divine nature of an influence that inspires thought, feeling, or action of feelings of your heart/soul

Job 32:8 But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.
The Mind

·.Your focus of thought, attention.

Rom 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Mar 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.







The Heart

·Out the heart come the intents/thought or mind of the spirit.
Mat 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

The thoughts or feelings of the mind

·Deep Emotion constituting character
Jer 3:15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

Conclusion

·The spirit in you is your mind (i.e. follow your mind not your heart).
. Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart

·What’s in your mind determines your heart.


·The process reasons, thoughts, feelings, will, perception and judgments which comes from your heart mind and spirit, creates the essence of your soul.
