Though winter waxes dark and cold and bleak
And sunshine from our skies does softly sneak
While chilly winds wrap round our shiv’ring forms
And pierce the body like a thousand thorns
Yet now days lengthen, week by steady week
And warmth returns, a red and rosy cheek
And all we thought was dead returns to life
The time with joy and laughter sure is rife
And, ye, could any flower so precious be
As one whose wait seems like eternity
The new and tender bud of ev’re flower
Proclaims the coming of that happy hour
All join and with great jubilation sing
The glories of the time we know as Spring!
(I wrote this a while ago for Easter. It's about His Resurrection.)
