Standing on the promises of god
During the storms that we encounter in this life and in all the uncertainty we can stand on the promises of God and have certainty in them, Gods promises will never fail. Lets take a look at what the Bible says about the promises of God in the book of Second Peter and the first chapter, “2nd Peter 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 2pe 1:6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1:9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:”You see the promises of God and the covenants that He makes with His people is something that you and I can always stand upon. Jesus said “Upon this rock I build my Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against Her.” are you on the ROCK are you standing there? The Rock is Jesus Christ, Jesus is the Word for the Bible says “ The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.” The Word of God is our promises if we stand upon the Word the gates of hell will not overtake you. Now for Jesus to have said prevail that means there shall be battles because you can not prevail without a battle. But if we stand upon the Rock, Jesus, the Word, our Promises we shall overcome all of our battles and the storms in our lives. You can not always trust the promises of frail man, but the promises of God will be true through all time! Isaiah the 25th chapter says “the counsels of the Lord are of old, faithfulness, and truth” The Lord has promised to meet all your needs according to His riches in Glory, and to fill us with joy. The Bible teaches us that the joy of the Lord is our strength, without the joy of the Lord we have no strength. The Bible even teaches us not to worry about things but to trust in Jesus, and cast all our cares upon Him. What we need to understand though is that all the promises of God that He has given for us to stand upon that we may be overcomes come by conditions only. Every promise in the Word of God is followed by a condition, we must meet the condition to get the promises. The whole Kingdom of God, and the operation of everything on the earth work on and by the principle of sowing and reaping. You can not have a harvest till you first plant the seed. When we keep our end of the bargain God keeps His always, praise His wonderful name forever! If you will do what the Word of God says in keeping Gods commandments and His conditions than you will always have the victory every time all the time. Praise God! We need to understand the promises of God are not just words written in a book, but they are so real and belong to the Blood bought child of God! In verse three of Second Peter and chapter one the Word says “by His divine power” Do you trust in Gods divine power? God has called us to partake of His Glory, and His divine nature. This is to have a life in the perfect will of God to have life, happiness, peace, joy, and all the things that pertain unto God always. That means to live our lives hid in the Cross of Calvary in His Glory and Power. Jesus said in so many words that greater things we shall do because He is gone to His Father and the Holy Ghost dwells in us. You do not have to live your life in worry down and out, if you will learn to live in Gods Glory, power, and be partaker of His divine nature through the Cross of Jesus Christ. Lets talk about being a partaker of Him. In verse four of Second Peter and chapter one the Bible says the Lord has given us promises so we might be partakers of divine nature. When you are baptized in the Holy Ghost and you partake of that divine nature you will never want for anything of the world again. You will know deep down inside of you that God will see you through it all, and that will give you a joy like never before, you will then be filled with such strength that overcoming the obstacles in your life will be no problem. Faith, Faith, Faith we need Faith. Faith is not seen if you could see it you would not need faith. We must let our faith be anchored in the work of the Cross in the word of God. We see in Second Peter the promises of life, peace, and prosperity. In the ninth verse we something powerful the Word says if you do not have enough you are blind in meaning with the spiritual eye and by Gods promises we have more than enough. There are a lot of spiritually blind people in this day and time. We must see by faith and trust in the Word of God. If you are Gods child He shall see you through. Think of the places you have been and were you are now, what you are looking at now is no bigger or harder for God than were you have already come from. Every time in the wilderness the children of Israel doubted when a problem arose yet God had seen them through every obstacle they had come up against in the past. Don’t be like that, that was not pleasing to God He wants His people trust in Him. So trust God He will not let you down.
