Hey guys!

I would like to share a situation I find myself in. I am a new Christian in a predominantly catholic country. In this country I feel the name of Christianity has been dragged through the mud due to the huge corruption in the church here.

I am considering going to a bible college in the states and I feel I have no support from my family. They keep asking how I intend on making a career from going to bible college. I keep telling them it's not about money and I want to go to learn more about the bible and it's history. I want to grow closer to God.

Anyone have any suggestions or similar situations?
 
Perhaps you should go to a regular Christian college. That way, you'll actually learn something that can give you a career later, and also learn more about God's word.

emmie, Catholic is a Christian denomination. from what i'm seeing, your a Protestant. i'm a Protestant too. Protestant is also a Christian denomination. the same with the East Orthodox.

1st. tell you parents that they should be supporting you in your decision to go to a Bible College.

2nd. Go For It!!!!! Go for a Bible College. You'll learn more in there than in church.

3rd. welcome to the faith. i can thankfully call you a sister in Christ. :)
 
You are doing the right thing. Catholics can be friends or enemies. They are not born again so do not be deceived by them. I am glad you chose the true Christ. You are a jewel among the rocks.
 
Hey Tom! I don't really like calling myself anything, I'm a follower of Christ and don't really believe Christianity should be divided into different denominations. I believe in the bible and it's teachings :)

I also don't agree with people putting Catholicism down. We have no place to judge others. The Catholics I know are firm believers in the teachings of Christ, the only difference I see is they worship Him differently.

I'm just going to pray about it and hope God's work shines through me and they understand and want to learn more about Christ.
