My spirit is still vexed and disturbed from having listened to only 2 second of that garabage you just played on YouTube.
the Pharisees were also vexed at first sight of John the baptist, and couldn't be bothered to receive his message, but immediately said 'he has a demon'

I have even heard unbelievers call Metal Music of the devil. Please talk to God about it some more. In other words, put this music away for at least 1 year and come back to it. You are not going to be convinced if you love something. If you love Jesus more, then temporarily putting this music away should not be a problem for you.

In other words....talk to God about it until you completely agree with me

Jason...just because you don't like a certain kind of music, doesn't make it evil

i despise country music...like hear it and literally feel like vomiting, despise it
therefore country music is evil
anyone else?

Not even the same thing. John the Baptist was not acting like a heavy metal artist. He was not convulsing like he was demon possessed or making loud noises that sound aggresive and violent. He was preaching repentance and was bold in spirit.

People were first Jehovah's Witnesses before they came to faith in Jesus Christ. Doesn't make JW's right with God.
people who speak Portuguese still speak Portuguese when they come to faith in Christ. if they cursed God in Portuguese before they came to a knowledge of the truth, it doesn't mean Portuguese is either 'wrong with God' or 'right with God' -- a language is only a medium for conversation to be expressed in. because Nietzsche wrote in German does not mean everyone who speaks in German is a nihilist.

No, most Metal Music cannot be understood. Yes, there are some slow songs, but the majority of their songs is absolute trash and rubbish and is of an evil spirit.
First of all the thread is about Christian music not about unbeliever metal music.
You and many others here dont understand what it means personal conviction, that you cannot hammer your personal conviction into other people. It is not "dont kill" or "dont steal". It is personal conviction. If God didnt put it into another's heart, then He didnt. Maybe He will in the future. Or maybe He wont. Or maybe He is using Christian metal to bring somebody to God or to transition them to different types of worship music.

Also, the above passage does not say you can praise the Lord in aggressive, violent, and prideful way. That is what Metal music does. You can't see that because you dont' want to see it because odds are is that you used to like Metal Music before you came to the faith. It is like an old friend to you.
This is as assuming and judgmental as it gets on here...

Not the same thing. Metal music is aggressive, violent, and prideful in behavior. If you can't recognize the spirit of evil behind it, I suggest you talk to God about it. It vexes my Spirit not because I dislike the music in tone. What you are not getting is that I used to like this garbage. But after receiving Christ, I now know it is wicked and evil because of it's aggressive and violent nature.

Praise Adonai by Scandinavian Metal Praise

lyrics: (because they matter)

Who is like Him
The Lion and the Lamb
Seated on the throne
Mountains bow down
Every ocean roars
To the Lord of hosts

Praise Adonai
From the rising of the sun
‘Til the end of every day
Praise Adonai
All the nations of the earth
All the angels and the saints
Sing Praise
Sweet song posthuman. What else you got? Gotta love the heavy stuff!

It's not off topic to relate unbeliever Metal Music with Christian Metal Music because they are the same thing. They are both Satanic and evil. I used to like Metal Music as another poster here actually used to be a Heavy Metal artist. We are not that way any more because we have been changed by the love of Jesus Christ. You won't want this type of music if you are changed. Talk to God about it.

Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good and good evil.

No apology for kicking the golden calves and idols. God has woe in mind.

For the cause of Christ

it's exactly the same thing, and it's incredibly fallacious reasoning.
some demon-possessed men lived in the desert wearing camel hair and eating bugs. in a 2-second glance at him, he was judged in mens eyes as a demon possessed man, without any regard whatosever for his message.

i have a carnal distaste for trombone music. if i judge a symphony as utterly demonic because a trombone plays in the first 2 seconds of it, i'm an idiot.

to many people, archaic language like "thee" and "thou" and "wherefore" is difficult to understand and sounds pretentious and vain. wouldn't you agree that they are sorely mistaken to write off a preacher as "prideful and full of confusion" if he quotes the KJV to begin a sermon?

this is all carnal judgement, poor judgement, rash condemnation without knowledge.

Oh man.
The soft and gentle "easylistening" music you are listening is also used to make New Age music...
I have nothing to talk to God about this because I dont even listen to metal.

I used to jamm in the 80's on guitar...such as Metallica, Dokken, Scorpions etc......I still like guitar and like to jamm every now and then, but will freely admit that a lot of the music I listened to and played in the 80's had lyrics that were contrary to the truth...Having said that...if the words are good and not blasphemous then it would be a matter of personal conviction. You cannot force conviction upon someone by words and or brow beating....God is in the business of convicting and like the old adage goes....You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink!

Anyways, I am not discussing this anymore. Folks can believe and worship as they will. But they will have to answer to God for it, though. I know what is evil and what is good by the Spirit and by His Word.

I know you would not play this music at a wedding or in proposing to someone you love. I know this music would not do well at a child care gathering within the church. I know this music is not good to listen to if you are upset and are driving in busy traffic. I know this music is not good to listen to if you just had a fight with the one you love. It's aggressive and violent and leads a person towards dark feelings and not good feelings.

Again, I encourage folks here not take my word for it, but talk to God about it some more.

(Jeremiah 33:3).

I can be a witness because of my own experience that metal music is the door for reckless and out of control behavior. When I used to get high, or drunk, (ashamedly I did these things but I am a new creation now and that person no longer exists), I used to drive back roads in the country and blast metal music. This kind of music brought out in me only rage and feelings of hate, depression, etc. When I would hear my father who is a Christian play praise music it bothered me, because I knew I wasn't right and under conviction. When I got saved, I tried to play Christian rock music, but the Spirit of God showed me it wasn't pleasing to God. Even though the lyrics were more towards Christianity, the sound of the instruments was the same ugly sound I heard from the worldly bands. We have bands such as P.O.D., who say they are christian, but yet they play their music at hellfest. Hellfest is nothing but a bunch of demons with instruments and a mic. They aren't playing to witness, as they say, they are playing because they love to mingle with this filthy world like so many other luke warm Christians today.

i got this -- if anyone can't bear loud, zealous praise, please don't bother clicking 'play'

Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.

(Psalm 24:7)

All fear, all pain, all hurt, all grief, all lies, must bow to Jesus' Name!
All kings, all thrones, everything that breathes life, must bow to Jesus' Name!
The Earth, the sea, the sun, the stars, the sky, must bow to Jesus' Name!
The Earth, the sea, the sun, the stars, the sky, must bow to Jesus' Name!

Hallelujah!

Kings, crowns, thrones: bow down!
Fall face down: bow down!
Kiss the ground: bow down!
Jesus, you hold the crown!
Bow down!

Funny funny because some of the lyrics in the bands I listen too praise God just as much if not more than Michael W. Smith.

When a metal band sings "Glory to God in the highest!" Oh yeah!!!
