This actually brings me to an interesting dilemma.

Single women, "Do Up" their face and hair, making them less attractive.

Ha ha, I've noticed that myself. There's exceptions to this rule, it actually does help some girls but very very rarely. 99% of them it doesn't though. What I think is funny is that of all the ladies reading this.....I bet most of them thought

"I'm one of the 1% that actually looks better with it on".

But no, no your not .....this is the very problem we speak of

One of my good friends got a "professional makeover" recently. She usually has a ponytail and some lip stuff. Thats it.

Well they curled her hair and put on the "smokey" eye makeup and dark lipstick. Along with the blush and mascara, it was all too much.

I didn't have the heart to say it looked weird but, she looks great without it so... I just hope her boyfriend likes it.

I don't wear a lot of makeup. Most days I don't wear any. Who cleans a house all done up? Anyhow if I don't wear at least mascara I look like I have no eyelashes and it's scary. So I'm doing a public service by putting mascara on.

That's what I don't like about makeup commercials...why would people wear that heavy of makeup in the general public?? I'm not a betting woman, but if I were, I'm betting she also has contacts in, and that's not her real eye color. Either that, or they just edited the video to make her eyes and lips more noticeable.


Plus, her expression is just downright creepy.


She does not look born with it. It's definitely Maybelline. And it's definitely creepy.

I used to think that too. Then, while Grandma's satellite TV service was on the blink and we didn't have an internet connection that could support streaming her shows, I downloaded a metric ton of Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and The Price Is Right from the Internet Archive.

Those commercials were so cheesy they reeked!

You don't think so eh? Well, this could be a chocolate vs vanilla topic but ...

what made the commercials awesome back then were exactly the cheesy factor or over-the-top factor. Even the superbowl commercials now are full of political correctness and woke stuff.

Most of the commercials now are about some drug where the list of side-effects is longer than the time of the commercial to advertise the drug or about some gross gay stuff to protect from aids and you see a gay couple kissing. All of this may be right in-between when you're watching something relaxing like "Everybody loves Raymond" or "The king of queens" and BAM, some gay sickness hits you in the face.

So yeah, i miss the 80s and 90s commercials with over-the-top exaggerations which took you into a happy dream world not a depressing sick world of disease mental and physical.

Its because baby boomers which is the largest demographic have lots of money to spend on anti-aging stuff.

I wish I could see more commercials about anti-aging stuff, it’d be more uplifting. Like when I used to see hair commercials for bald guys. They always made me laugh.

But no, it’s about disease disease disease. Some friend at work was telling me that the lobbying department lobbied some congressmen ( now those guys make me laugh )to allow a loophole so they can advertise more drugs.
So it’s an USA thing I believe because you don’t see this depression in commercials in Europe for example.

What’s the commercial scene in New Zealand anyway? Are there any channels that stream live I can watch?

This is an interesting topic, and boy do I have a beef with some commercials.

Anything by Bulbhead, which I lovingly call "Bubblehead". They're always running out of products due to supply chain issues. So, you'd better call NOW!! I wrote them on this, got a stupid response, and now just fast-forward every time I see one of their ridiculous ads. (Thing is, they actually have interesting products. They don't need to use misleading gimmicks to sell them.)

I cannot stand the Warby Parker commercials, because they are incredibly woke.

I agree with others here: I hate dating site commercials. eHarmony went from being partially Christian to downright worldly. Phooey on them. Our Time ads also piss me off. Why are their couples always twirling together in the end? It is such a clichéd image, yet dating sites continue to use that foolishness.

Now... I LOVE Geico ads. I like Farmers (that dopey emu and his single-minded human companion), and the mayhem Allstate ads. Love that guy!

I hate most lawyer ads. I especially get my fur up when they throw lower-third ads over a show in-progress! I will never do business with such a firm.

Commercials have everything to do with "commerce" or financial gain.

If we are seeing an influx of stupid commercials, then that only means that advertisers believe that the average consumer is stupid, and they are probably correct.

I must be watching the wrong channels. All I ever get are commercials for Kroger or the latest marvel movie. But then the only place I see commercials is on youtube, right before they play my stand-up comedy special. I never watch traditional tv.

tobacco advertising is banned but there are roadside billboards for liquor!

Even though we have the worst drunk driving rates and road tolls in the world.

I didnt study commerce so cant say I am an expert on it. I go on non commercial radio, and have never been a fan of commercials or ads as we call them, and find ways to block them if they are on you-tube.

On Tv, if it is ever on, I mute them. They are so loud and noisy. Infomercials are the worst as they go on forever. But there can be funny ones, theres the Briscoes Lady and Suzanne Paul, and celebs trying to hawk stuff. If you have aspirations to be on screen, you COULD sell your soul and be in one. You will have 60 seconds of fame. Like Rachel Hunter for trumpet or Pantene.

Drug advertising in US magazines is pretty bad, like half the magazine is taken up with ads for pharmaceuticals, and the fine print about all the side effects. Most newspapers and magazines are simply vehicles for ads anyway. Or they have 'advertorials' or sponsored content, and most people cant tell the difference between that and fake news or product placement.

You can tune into a live stream of the Waikato River. Amd watch it flood I suppose, or the rain pouring down and turning a hydrodam. Its a bit boring but maybe a passable way to spend time, watching the river flow by.

My dad likes to watch Railscene. You could be the train driver and watch the nz scenery go by.

My favourite livestream channel was one that was a webcam of an aquarium of colourful fish swimming by. I always put that on on the TV in the school library. Yea I dont know why we had a tv in the library. It was there when I started and stuck to the wall and I couldnt get rid of it.
