The greatest threats to the Bible and to the body of Christ isn't just external opposition and corruptions but a “normal-looking” Christianity that lacks real transformation and obedience. Deceptions are dangerous because they appear harmless, give no warning, feel right, and closely resemble truth in many ways.
The builder on rock takes God’s word for what it says and actively lives it to his best abilities and with the help of Holy Spirit. The builder on sand hears and may agree with claims to his already knowing truth but doesn't believe what's actually written in order to continue embracing what he's been taught prior by people he admires and loves. Much of the corruptions he believes enjoy antiquity, some of it dating back to man's creation of the largest false religion within Christianity, such as a works-based gospel for salvation.
Once truth becomes flexible, it offers a false security.
True followers build around God’s word for what it says, showing visible movement, growth, and change; they accept correction and return when they fall. The other kind hears without transformation; under pressure they compromise, soften truth, and shift to preserve comfort and control rather than to admit quoted passages mean what they say. Instead, they resort to running through the field trying to converse about all the other rabbit holes littering the field, thus trying to distract away from the main subject put forth to them. Some will even blame you for their own straw man tactics and slight-of-hand variants to the topic to refuse admitting, for example, such things as the elements for salvation preached by Peter in Acts 2 are not the same list of elements stated by Paul in 1 Cor. 15:1-4.
Why?
Well, it all plays into the enjoyment for having deep roots strengthened within historic and modern churchianity, the deceptive teachings from pulpits upheld by modern theological cemeteries.
What about you? Are you a watchman on the wall against the onslaught of deceptions? What are you seeing out there in the expanse of the enemy's amassed encampments?
