Guys A while back i made a prayer request about my friend Roland, he told me he was going to commit suicide and I begged him not to but he never replied so i made a prayer request here that would not do it. Well I have been informed that he did in fact do it, his father has contacted me and told me. But I need a different prayer for him now, Plz pray that somehow he goes to heaven, I know that commiting suicide is a direct ticket to hell( or at least that's what i hear) But maybe with enough prayer God will have compassion and answer. I actually had a dream about him, I do not remember what day or how long ago it was but in the dream he did not commit suicide. Now i have been praying to god to please somehow let him not go to hell even if that means i must take his place because i am not afraid i know god will not abandon me. Then i had this dream sometime later, I would love to believe this dream means god has forgiven him and its as if he never took his life but i cannot know for certain. Either way Please continue to pray for him to be saved from the lake of fire

Suicide is NOT a ticket to hell. One who commits suicide will be called to account for it, but not with their salvation. Salvation comes from confession of the risen Christ as your Lord, nothing more and nothing less.

I am sorry your friend took this route. But rest assured, if he was the Lords, he is with the Lord.

God is not in time, so I used to pray now that God would have done something then. I figured He could sort it out.

So, Lord Jesus, thank you for meeting Roland as he lay dying, and showing yourself to Him, and giving him one last chance to meet you.

Shalom My prayers are with you & your friends, also his family & friends. ,I believe that as a good shepherd, Jesus never returns without his sheep...no matter how far we stray or how lost we feel. Shalom

I dont mean to sound harsh, but this is what the word of God says about death, and second chances:

Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed to men once to die, but after this the judgment,

Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are clearly revealed, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lustfulness,
Gal 5:20 idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, fightings, jealousies, angers, rivalries, divisions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revelings, and things like these; of which I tell you before, as I also said before, that they who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Rev 22:11 He acting unjustly, let him still act unjustly. And the filthy, let him be filthy still. And the righteous, let him be righteous still. And the holy, let him be holy still.
Rev 22:12 And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to each according as his work is.

Suicide is self murder, and it would be highly difficult to repent once you have taken your life, but this is happening alot in the professing Christian world. Many apostate and reprobate preachers will teach you can commit suicide and go to heaven, but the word of God says otherwise.

Will God weigh the good verses the bad this person did while alive?

Again, I dont see this is scripture, I dont know the heart of your friend who took his life, or what kind of life he lived prior to taking his life, but Gods judgement will be fair and just, as He is no respector of persons, but gives His mercy to the humble, who have come to real brokeness and repentance before Him while they still have breath, as its not too late for those who have ears to hear and a heart for truth!

Tommy... I know you mean well but i can't bear the thought of him going to hell. I believe he is judged by his heart not a bad choice. Even murder can be forgiven right? Ihave spoken to him and I have spoken to his father he was a good person and he was a christian.

Samson committed suicide and where is he?And I will never be able to understand how a person will say that they will trade places with a person in hell assuming that they are going to heaven themselves, gods judgement is true and not to be questioned. And may u be blessed through this ordeal.

Blain I pray that the Lord gives you and his family and his dad peace and closure with this, I pray and ask on Jesus name amen. I am sorry for the hurt. This is a fallen and dark world and we just can't wrap our minds around some of the stuff that happens. But our Hope is always always always in the Lord. He will give you peace and understanding if only you turn your face up to him and keep turning your face up to him and you do not stop. His love is unfailing always to his children and to the lost and his help and his peace and his comfort and his joy can be yours, you only have to ask for it and believe my friend. God bless all of you that this tragedy has touched with his peace and his comfort and his healing, amen.

Well I can say it because I trust god enough to know that he will not make me burn for eternity, And i would rather me suffer for his safety than to lose a soul to hell. Besides i don't think i would be there alone i am sure god would be by my side as he always is. I had a dream similer to that.

Prayers sent for you and all who loved him.
I believe God is control of the rest.
Love in Christ, Shekaniah

Samson didn't commit suicide, he died in the fight to destroy evil. Your analogy means Jesus 'committed suicide', and where is He?

There is an issue with suicide in where Christ having died for you, can you then take that life back into your own hands to end? Can you die for yourself after He's died for you? The difference is that Christ died spiritually for you, and you don't have to face the second death because of that. But you still have to face the first one, and for taking that early I don't see one loosing salvation. You'll be called to account for it, and pay dearly for it in judgment, since having been bought with His blood your bod IS His property. But you're paying for property destruction, not salvation.

Im so sorry, praying in Jesus Christ is Lord for him, his family and you also.

Hugs and God bless

I'm sorry for your loss Blain. The harsh reality is that Roland is gone. You prayed for him while he was alive. Our dealings are with the living. Pray for and be a friend to the family. Humbly allow God to deal with those who have left this world.

Well guys as of right now I am comforting his father, His dad is as I am sure you can imagine very sad. he is just as confused as me because even when i talked to Rolandl and he showed no signs of suicide, However Roland apparently wrote a letter addressed to me when he commited suicide. I guess his family was supposed to find it otherwise how would i even be able to read it? He wrote how much he enjoyed being friends with me and how he was thankfull for me helping him. But Ya i am going to pray for his family

Blain, I know you have every reason for concern about where your friends
spirit went. I always believed it to be the way you did. And I can only say
there are reasons we don't know about. A chemical imbalance in the brain,
and / or medications ( listen to commercials ) that tell you this medication
may cause suicidal thoughts. Often times, Brain tumors might affect ones
perception. So, it appears none of us know his condition. I will say, we can't
pray for him now Blain. I am sorry, but it is not the way it works. Once that
last breath is taken, the spirit will go where ever it is to go. God bless you and
the family as your friend rests in his time of death. So sorry this happened
because it affects you deeply. J-Kay

Blain, I know it's been a few months since you posted this so I pray you are doing better and that Jesus has been your comfort during this time. I'm still praying for you and Roland's family. No one can say for certain that suicide is an automatic "go to hell" or not. It is not directly addressed in scripture and nothing (in context) says the person goes to hell no matter what. People have their opinions and some use fear and scripture to back up their claims so they can "know for certain" and scare anyone else away from trying to commit suicide.

What I see in scripture is that our Father and Jesus are not looking for relationship with us based on fear. They are looking for relationship with us based upon a love for us that we cannot imagine and does not change. Having committed a sin and then dying without having a chance to repent does not mean you lose your salvation and go right to hell. That is not consistent with a God of Love and compassion, that is a God based on fear to keep his subjects in line and doing what it wants. God loves us and calls us sons and daughters, not subjects. He does not look on us with disdain because we have done something wrong, he looks on us with compassion. Remember the people Jesus healed, the woman at the well, and the woman caught in adultery? He does not beat us down because we sin, Jesus lifts us up out of it. We all have sins in our lives and there is no "degree of sin." Sin is sin.

The thought that it's an automatic go to hell is a blatant fear tactic and is not consistent with scripture or Gods law of love. To say that you go to hell because your last act was to kill someone is absurd. Your salvation is not based on whether or not you follow every letter of the law or live a perfect life. In this way of thinking, if you are the cause of a car crash that causes someone else to die and you die as well then you automatically go to hell because your actions killed someone and you never repented of it. It would also mean that every soldier who died in battle went to hell because they were in battle and killed someone and they were killed before they could repent. Someone could also avoid the automatic go to hell because they could take an overdose and repent then die. See, the logic is flawed and there is no God of love or compassion in this scenario. It's based on man's fear mongering. It's also the same cult-like theology that says if you die before you're baptized you go right to hell. You can be on your way to the baptism ceremony but you died on the way so you're now in hell. Christianity has blatantly said that is not the case, yet the same logic is used for the "go right to hell if you commit suicide" principle because we obviously don’t want people to commit suicide.

As for suicide causing someone to be classified as a murderer in context with the scriptures, I do not see it. Doing something once does not define the person. It may be something someone did one time, but that does not make it their identity. Jesus said that everyone who looks on a woman lustfully in their heart has committed adultery. If that's the case then every guy on the planet will go directly to hell because they are an adulterer. The same thing where Jesus said anyone who hates his brother is guilty of murder. Again, everyone on the planet has inherited a direct ticket to hell as a murderer. The difference of being a "murderer, adulterer, thief, drunkard, etc" is a lifestyle characterized by these things and having a heart hardened to the Lord. Again, doing something once does not define the person or their heart.

Does God condone suicide? No, obviously not. At the same time, God knows our beginning and our end. He is not taken by surprise and knocked from his throne because someone commits suicide. He knew before the person was born that they were going to do that or not do that. It's already accounted for in His plan. He knows what choice any of us will make. For me, I've been on the brink many many times and have not gone through with it for different reasons. My reasons, among other things, are the hurt and pain it would cause my family and friends. When I get that low, I am sorely reminded that God is hurting with me. Scripture says he rejoices with us and he hurts with us. God is not fickle. If I were to make the choice of suicide in a weak moment, God's character would not change from a loving and compassionate God to an angry vengeful one throwing me in hell forever. No, I would die and go to heaven where I would be welcomed by the Loving Father and his Son Jesus. If I chose my timing rather than God's timing to die He already knows it. I would "pay for it" by not getting to see my future play out as God had intended. He knew I would die then, but his perfect plan for me was different. I believe I would "pay for it" because I would be grieved as He would at the missed opportunities.

Going to heaven or hell is based on one thing only...whether you have accepted Jesus and made him Lord of your life. If you have, regardless of your "final act in life," you will go to heaven.
