What shall be the sign of the end of the world?
1. When shall these things be? When the gospel is preached to all the nations.
2. What will be the sign of the Lord's coming to Israel? When you see the abomination of desolation in the Holy Sanctuary.
But now we are looking at the sign of the end of the world.
Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
This is a repeating pattern. The sun was darkened and the moon didn't give her light when Jesus was crucified. That was followed by the "stars falling from heaven" meaning the Jewish leaders were deposed. The powers of heaven were shaken when Jerusalem was besieged and the temple destroyed. That is our pattern. It will be repeated at the time of the rapture when Jesus comes in the clouds, and again it will be repeated at the end of the Great Tribulation when Jesus comes with power and Great glory. We have a solar eclipse followed by a lunar eclipse this month prior to the Feast of Trumpets. According to the prophecies a great earthquake followed by the sun being darkened and the moon being turned to blood precedes the great day of the Lord, the 70th week, the seven year tribulation.
31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
The rapture refers to the first fruits being offered to God, this verse here is referring to the general harvest which comes after the firstfruits.
So then before you can understand the signs of the end of the world you need to understand the context. It is a harvest. Suppose you are in a wheat field growing up to God. The "end of the world" is when the wheat is harvested, cut down, threshed, and the grain is sent to the grain silos.
32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
so then the signs we are looking for are signs of a coming harvest. A fruit tree must bud before you will get a harvest. What is the "fig tree". This does not directly refer to Israel, instead it is an indirect reference. The first mention of a fig tree is when Adam and Eve fell. They covered themselves with fig leaves. Why would they do that? Perhaps when they ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge and their eyes were opened the fig leaves were the ones readily at hand. In other words, perhaps the Fig tree is an example of the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil. The national tree for Israel is the olive tree, but here Jesus is referring to sinful nations and lumping Israel in with them. So yes, this refers to Israel but it also refers to the UN. Israel's birth was in 1948 and the UN's birth was in 1945. So when do you harvest the fruit trees? Well you need to realize that the raptured saints are not likened to fig trees, they are likened to olive trees. The rapture is when the firstfruits of the oil is offered to God and that is on the Feast of Trumpets.
33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
This expression "so likewise, when you see all these things" is telling you this is very complex. He is not saying when you see this one thing, but when you see all these things and He also says "likewise" meaning He is referring to both the rapture prior to the seven years and the coming in glory at the last three and half years.
34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
OK, so now we can check the prophecy. If we use the definition of a generation as "seventy years, eighty if you are strong" and realize the level of precision here is a decade, that means 65 to 74 years is the decade for seventy and 75 to 84 is the decade for "strong or obstinate" then the judgement on the obstinate generation begins when the UN turns 75. The UN was born on October 24, 1945. That was Chesvan 11, the day that "Methuselah" is said to have died, and the day that Rachel, the matriarch of Israel, died, and the day Yitzhak Rabin died. The UN is "born" on the day these three died and three years later Israel is resurrected from the dead. 75 years later the positive aspect of this generation has died, leaving only the obstinate. They are now actively seeking this Covid vaccine, and we see war break out in Ukraine in January of 2022, and in Israel in October of 2023, and in Iran in 2025. Now notice that Israel turns 75 in 2023, the year that war breaks out there. We are now two and a half years into this war, you can't compare this to the six day war or Yom Kippur war, this is far bigger, more massive and longer in duration. Those other wars were labor pains, this war is Israel going into labor.
35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
The prophecies that had to have been fulfilled here to the year are astounding. Israel being resurrected from the dead, walking out of the Holocaust, the UN being formed, and all the various steps which have led us to this Psalm 83 war, Jeremiah 49 breaking the bow of Elam and setting the stage for Ezekiel 38. The gospel of Jesus Christ going to the four corners of the earth. Israel having the red heifers and sacrificing one in 2025. Everything being prepared for the sacrifices to be resumed on the temple mount. This is truly a testimony that Jesus Christ is Lord.
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
Look at what Jesus didn't say. He didn't say we don't know the signs. He didn't say we don't know that Israel will be reformed or that the sacrifices will be resumed on the temple mount. We do know the signs, what we don't know is the day and hour they will be fulfilled.
