I know I had posted the update on her on the prior prayer request i had made, but, I'm just nervous about it.
Sunshine has been in a better mood today, kind of but still can tell she's in pain. She'll be going back in tomorrow morning and her surgery should be between 8-9am.
Her recovery time will be around 2-3 months with doing various therapy on her leg/knee.
Also, the surgeon will be taking pictures of her hips when she's sedated just to make sure there are no underlying issues in her hips (as per last week, he said that he highly doubts she did anything to her hip and he doubts that she has tumors in her hips and that it's only a very bade case of arthritis.
I am beyond nervous. I am more nervous this time (probably because she's older --- she's 9 now) then 2 years ago when she tore her right ACL and got it operated on.
I only got 2 hours of sleep last night because I was on edge and very nervous. I just don't want to lose her is one of my biggest fears and my other fear is that he will find something bad in her hips when he x-rays her.
I love my senior puppy.
I wish I could post a picture of her but, I only have pics of her on my laptop folders/facebook and on my phone and I just don't know how to upload a picture of her otherwise. I wish I could just attach and upload a picture from my laptop.
She looks like a lab mix but, had a dna test done on her and she came out to be mostly german shepherd and then airedale terrier but, she also has less then 10% of hungarin viszla and bassett hound in her too. She was basically pure white when I adopted her at 10 months old besides her ears having a tint of golden yellow in them and the tips of her fur also had a sheen of golden in it. Every winter after that, the past 8 winters, she has gotten a shade darker (more golden), now, she literally almost looks like the color of a lab, only darker golden. She is gorgeous. Oh and when I adopted her, her name was Snowball because of her coloring. I named her Sunshine after 3 weeks of owning her because, I had been thrown into a 3 year depression when I lost my best friend, Teddy whom was a lab/whippet mix, lost him to congestion heart disorder at age 15. He was my best Best friend. We did everything together so, when Teddy died (I still struggle w/ his death sometimes and that was way back in 2005). But, now, Sunshine, I initially named her Sunshine because after adopting her, that was the very first time in nearly 3 years, I smiled and laughed. She brought me out of my depression and was the Sunshine in my life. And then her coloring also came to match her name as well.
Last week, I was terrified of losing her. I wasn't prepared to lose another dog because even after nearly 13 years, I still wasn't over Teddy. So, going into this surgery and as Sunshine gets older, I know I"m going to have a difficult time. I have grown extremely attached to Sunshine (I have a completely different relationship w/ her then I did w/ Teddy) But, she's special too w/ her nature and her attitude.
You never know how much you can learn about God from watching your dog interact with you, others and other animals. Teddy pointed me to God several times growing up. His attitude was amazing. Sunshine, very similar but she does it in a different way.
Sorry for rambling. I just love her and I still love Teddy too.
I remember when my grandma was still alive, she knew how much I loved Teddy. She told me, now don't you worry. When I die, I will take good care of Teddy til you get here. I remember when she was in the hospital, she was sleeping, but, I was holding her hand for 2 hours that night and gently speaking to her, I almost jokingly said to her, "nanny, please say hi to Teddy when you see him and give him a great big hug and kiss from me" -- my grandma, actually squeezed my hand tightly for a couple of seconds. I had a very very close relationship w/ my grandma and only a few times that night when I was speaking to her, did she squeeze my hand. I told her that I loved her very much and that I enjoyed those 2 hours w/ her. The following morning, she passed away. She was 102 and outlived all her 7 brothers and sisters who all passed away before they reached age 50.
