It's very difficult for those who led different lives before they came to Christ and/or those christians who suddenly find themselves divorced or widowed. We must step from one world into another and we have to re-learn so many things. Oddly enough, it doesn't appear to be any easier for those who've never known anything other than the world we've stepped into.
Trying to explain the mind of a woman is like trying to lasso air, but I'm gonna give it a shot.

Women often get conflicting messages from men. Some want us to be the demure woman who graciously waits for the man of her dreams to come riding up on a white horse. Some want us to be bold, witty and make the first move. Just as it takes a man awhile to learn how to "read" a woman and figure out the best way to get to know her, it takes time for a woman to learn how to "read" men to know how best to make their interest known. It takes even longer if the woman has been sheltered as much as many christian women have.
Finding the right person to be with for a lifetime takes time and effort for most people. It seems rare that THE ONE is the very first relationship we have of any kind with a member of the opposite gender. But we learn something from every relationship we develop. Hopefully, most of what we learn is positive and helpful toward our own personal growth and maturity. Sometimes we take some pretty hard hits, but those can be beneficial as well.
Life is not a fairytale, but that doesn't mean that there are no happy endings. Seems like a lot of young christian women pray and trust for THE ONE and then expect him to be the next guy who rides up and end up heartbroken and disappointed when they are not. Maybe we watch too many movies or read too many books. Or maybe it's just another effect of the "have it your way" instant gratification lifestyles that have come about in our society.
I really don't see finding the right person to be with any differently than I do developing any other relationship with other people. People are in and out of our lives all day, every day. Some of them fall in step beside us, some don't. Some we have commonalities with, others we don't. Some will instantly make us feel that we've always known them, some won't. Relationships of any kind require an investment and it takes time to consider how much of an investment we want to make in a relationship with any given person.
Sometimes great things happen in an instant, sometimes they don't. The same is true of a relationship. If they work out, awesome. If they don't, they don't. I'm not sure why so many people feel the need to blame someone when they don't. Seems like we should just take from it whatever we can and either be thankful for what we've learned and/or be thankful we didn't make the mistake of marrying the wrong person.
"Until death do we part" is a loooooong time for most people. That decision takes a lot more time, effort and prayer than buying a house, car or new TV, but I don't know that most people treat it any differently. Why rush a good thing? Why not just enjoy the process? If that person is the one you're supposed to be with, you'll be with them. I guess I just trust God enough to know that HE will clearly let me know. God, Himself, said that it wasn't good for man to be alone. I think He meant women too.
