Its incredible how many want to see the Armageddon scenario kick off. I assume they don't have any unsaved relatives or friends to be concerned about. I remember seeing somewhere in the bible the words ''Cursed are those who want to see the day of the lord, it is a day of darkness not light'' The general view seems to be that everyone else can go to Hell because I will be OK. I will be floating off to heaven before the fat hits the fan because I am a blessed and chosen
saint, unlike others who get left behind.
When God decided to destroy Sodom Abraham begged him to delay his decision if he could find some righteous people
in the City. Moses begged God to spare the Israelites. I can wait to see Jesus when my time comes and hope more will be saved in the meantime. The second coming will happen one day. It could be in our lifetime or not for another 2000 years. The time is in Gods hands.
We are told in the Bible NOT to be ignorant or uninformed as believers. We are told to encourage one another with the truth. It is God's will for believers to be looking for that blessed Hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and Savior Jesus Christ. It's absolutely Biblical to do this. Are we mere humans more sympathetic., more compassionate, more loving than God Himself?
No., not by a long shot. He is delaying His return so we can get the Good News of the Gospel out. As we do this we are to be looking for His return being built up in the faith and the love and grace of God.
1 Thess.4:13-18
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Now also we would not have you ignorant, brethren, about those who fall asleep [[SUP][
a][/SUP]in death], that you may not grieve [for them] as the rest do who have no hope [beyond the grave].
[SUP]
14 [/SUP]For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will also bring with Him through Jesus those who have fallen asleep [[SUP][
b][/SUP]in death].
[SUP]
15 [/SUP]For this we declare to you by the Lord’s [own] word, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord shall in no way precede [into His presence]
or have any advantage at all over those who have previously fallen asleep [in Him [SUP][
c][/SUP]in death].
[SUP]
16 [/SUP]For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud cry of summons, with the shout of an archangel, and with the blast of the trumpet of God. And those who have departed this life in Christ will rise first.
[SUP]
17 [/SUP]Then we, the living ones who remain [on the earth], shall simultaneously be caught up along with [the resurrected dead] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so always (through the eternity of the eternities) we shall be with the Lord!
[SUP]
18 [/SUP]Therefore comfort
and encourage one another with these words.
