I understand you think they are vile John but I don't see them that way. You are 100% entitled to your opinion though. When my day comes I know they will be removed and I'll be with God I'm fine with that.
In all seriousness, the question you must ask yourself is this: Is it expedient, is it helpful, does it promote the cause of presenting your body a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to God. It may be lawful, but is it expedient?

Our bodies are vile. That's Scripture. I wasn't referring to tatoos being vile. What I was getting at is marking up an already vile body.
One of the few people to die on the same calendar day he was born. Pure unadulterated genius. I hated all that olde English in school !
I see what you are saying John, thank you for making me think. The only thing I can say is they have been proven helpful. I see the quote I have as inspiration and has cheered me up. If they were inappropriate or hurtful symbols/words I would see a problem.

I'm like you...( well somewhat different ..I don't have blond hair...
..) .....in that I don't have a tattoo and will never get one but I don't begrudge others as Christian ones are usually done purposely and tastefully.
Sometimes the KJV can mis-lead us because of the old wording..."vile" just doesn't cut it....there are 4 times this same greek word is used in the NT...here they are below....
Philippians 3:21 (NASB)
[SUP]21 [/SUP] who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.
The greek word for "humble state" means humiliation not vile as we use the word today.
Here it is used again concerning Mary.
Luke 1:48 (NASB)
[SUP]48 [/SUP] "For He has had regard for the humble state of His bondslave; For behold, from this time on all generations will count me blessed.
Here it is again talking about the Lord..
Acts 8:33 (NASB)

I have multiple tattoos....all faith based.
I have always been a bit conservative in nature, so getting some tattoos surprised some that new me....but I am pleased with them. Glad I have them....no regrets.
They have also sparked a number of conversations from different people who have seen them.
Particularly, 'Walk By Faith' on my foot and a scripture from Psalms accross the top of my back.
All glory to Him then as they spark conversations about Christ.
