There is a 'debate' of sorts going on about if the temple in the verse is talking about a physical temple in Jerusalem OR if its talking about the church as a living temple (like in Peter's epistles) or an individual as the temple of God.

The main argument of the "its the church" side seems to be that to renew animal sacrifices in Jerusalem would be blasphemous since Jesus already got rid of all that once, and the temple was destroyed in AD70. I agree with all of that, but HERE IS WHY I believe this is STILL talking about a PHYSICAL TEMPLE in Jerusalem:

I dont believe its too much of a STRETCH to assume 2 Thessalonians 2:4 and Matthew 24:15 are talking about the SAME THING. If everyone agrees with that premise, Jesus mentions to us DANIEL. If we go to the book of Daniel, we will see a very specific identification of what the abomination of desolation is. In fact we have already seen it in history with Antiochus Epipwhateverhisnamewas.

So the REASON why i believe it CANNOT be talking about the church is because it says in Daniel that: "And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up" <- There is no "daily sacrifice" going on in the church, or inside an INDIVIDUAL. That to me PROVES this is talking about a LITERAL PHYSICAL TEMPLE in Jerusalem.

As always, prove me wrong from Scripture and i'll agree with you. Discuss away! Sorry for the long-winded opening!
