I use to play tennis 4 times a week until my friend left after college. Love the sport including ping pong but I probably don’t have the same reflexes as I did 25 years ago 😂

Handball is just as good as tennis I reckon, dont need a racket or a net just a flat concrete or ashphalt and a clear line.

I was quite good at handball at school but havent played it in years...I dont even have any tennis balls anymore.

I think holding those unwieldy rackets can cause repetitive injury to anyone's wrists and joints not to mention the cats guts used to string them.
I guess its meant to be a young persons sport...older people are more likely to play golf or pentanque or bowls. Every retirement village I worked in had to have a bowling green as their concession to recreation. But thats not really a singles match kind of game.
otherise all the other sports seem to be kinda sexist in that they split the women and men so they only play the same sex.

racquetball kind of ruined my tennis swing. the racquet is shorter, so i got used to not reaching quite as far with my arm.

not so much with racquetball. i used to play with people in their 60's when i was in college -- and lose a lot to some of them even though i was much younger and quicker. there's less running back and forth you have to do, and it's more about skillfully aimed shots, and positioning yourself in the court.

I have a tennis reference every day. When the dog starts barking at the dog across the street I pop my head out and say, "Good heavens, what a racket!"

Tennis is my favorite sport.
---
I used to watch 'major tournaments'.
- I like the 'set up / image'..
- Two warriors dueling..
- There is no substitute / replacement player.
---
Recent years.. I do not have favorite players.
My favorite players.. in the past. ( men's single )
- John McEnroe, Jimmy Conners, Andre Agassi, Boris Becker, Bjorn Borg..etc.
Some of best players (men) were from 'Down Under'..
- Rod Laver, John Newcombe & Roy Emerson ( Austrailia ).. Rod Laver is considered to be 'the best player of all time.'

I made a comment here..even though I am married.

Howdy Mission21 and welcome. This is ostensibly the Single's forum, or that's what it started out as... but over the years it has evolved into the default cool place for people to hang out and chat about whatever. You are welcome to post here.

haha thats fine though I wonder if many couples actually play. with each other as doubles or against each other.
I never really watched it in tv though. My dad watches Cricket and hogs the tv and that goes on all day (pr all night) so theres no time to watch any other sport. But tennis doesnt go on forever cos surely the players must get tired. I imagine the ball runners must be very fit.
In Cricket you never have mixed teams...and the men and women never play each other. which is kinda silly cos gender shouldnt come into it. But thats the same with lots of other sports...

famous tennis players that come to mind...serena and venus williams. steffi graff. anna kournikova. andre agassi. I dont know if they were favourites of people cos they always won, or if its because they were just good looking lol. Most would wear cute tennis outfits, usually white. You wouldnt never get an All Black tennis team.

is squash the same as racketball or is it different. Squash you dont have the problem of running after loose balls since you are playing inside a box pretty much...but isnt half the fun of sport is that its outside in the fresh air???

I wonder if some people who say there favourite sport is....whatever....and it doesnt mean they actually play it themselves. They just watch other people play it.

I suppose its like people who say their favourite book is the Bible but they dont ever try to read it. They just listen to other people reading it...?

I love watching it more than playing it. Although i cannot remember if i played tennis or squash once at college. It seems the same to me. I love watching Andy Murray, and Novak, Roger Federer. The 3 best players in the world. Well Andy has gotten rusty over time.
