When Abrahams father took the family for a walk from UR thru Babylon up to Ninevhe, then straight westward, Abrahams father Terah died in Haran (in modern day Turkey).

However, Abrahams brother "Haran" died back in UR.

Did Abrahams family founded the city of Haran and named it to honor the son who died in UR?

This bible question would've probably gotten more responses in the bible discussion forums.

I think you are right. Interesting that Nahor was the grandpa of Nahor Jr. who I think was born the year after Nahor died. Nahor died 119 years after he became father to Terah. Terah died at 205 when Abram was 75. There are 130 years difference. Yet at age 70, Terah begat Abram, Nahor, Haran. The sons are listed in reverse order of birth. This is the firstborn son doctrine. The firstborn son is chosen not by birth order.
Shem is also the third born but listed first. Shem is 100 years two years post flood. Japheth was born when Noah was 500 (KJV).
