Secondly. Gain as much information as you can from as many different sources on the subject from all sides being aware some will invent things on either side to disprove the theory or prove it.
Third. Cross reference the different sources to be a more complete view.

Fifth. What do you actually see happening with your own eyes (If the item in question is visible to you).
