i've gotten this far (again...lol)
but isn't part of the point that we can't create such a synthesis?
too often God, His Word, and His Promises defy reason and logic, don't they?

i thought that last time around, but figured it couldn't be correct.
That is absolutely the point. The only way synthesis can be realized is by representing the natural world through the lens of scripture. If you want to start at the beginning to understand all of this you might look up an old thread titled Triadic Reality (a discussion between oldhermit and Kenisis). feel free to ask me about anything on that thread.

Man has a tendency to believe that observation of the psychological universe will enable him to cultivate a true understanding of the external world of which he is a part. To this mind, the world starts with human psychology to bring human reason to bear upon his experiences. Because human psychology, when operating outside of a revelation from the Lord is extremely limited, this creates an equally limited use of language. Such a limited language use can never enable man to see beyond the horizon of faith into the unseen world. It is the world of the unseen that is the causative and controlling force of the observable universe. If uninspired psychology frames language around human experimentation it can never be expanded beyond that which we are able to confirm by experience. This psychology will not enable us to develop a language to describe what cannot be observed. We simply do not have the words (icons) to project a corresponding image of what we cannot see onto the human mind. Consequently, whatever cannot be observed does not exist for this individual.

The language of revelation must come to bear upon the mind in such a way as to change the way in which we think and formulate our understanding of the natural world. We must construct a language use that will allow us to see by faith that which cannot otherwise be seen. Such language use develops a behavior of faith. We begin to look beyond the boundaries of the normal into a world that transcends all material considerations, into a world that cannot be explained based on scientific observation. This new language use begins to restructure one's psychology to be able to re-represent everything we can see based on an entirely new appreciation for what constitutes reality. It changes the way we see problems in life, the way we react to pressures and circumstances, the way we regard the behavior of others and even the value of our material possessions. It allows us to be free of the burden of regarding ourselves as causative agents. When we learn that things in this world are controlled by powers that cannot be seen we are able to develop a psychology of dependency upon the Almighty rather than upon self. This profoundly changes the way we approach prayer (consider the prayers of the Psalms). Since prayer is an act of raising linguistic propositions in the midst of human circumstances, we can reassign issues of economics, health, danger, security or any other human condition that is common to man's experience to the Lord.

We can possess such an extraordinary language use only when we realize that the intelligence of God has absolute priority. God's intelligence must be allowed to move from the eternal to the temporal. Human intelligence must always be subordinated to the wisdom of God. We must then apply this revealed intelligence to the content of our material circumstances. Our use of language must be reconstructed. We can no longer allow ourselves to speak in terms of hopeless circumstances. We can no longer see situations as beyond the possibility of redemption. This may not be so difficult in situations where little is at stake, but when situations are critical and even life threatening we must learn to discard the notion that scripture breaks down in the extreme. Scripture shows us that God never seems to do favorable conditions. His power is always most impressively demonstrated when things seem to be the most hopeless. If we can learn to change our language even at the extreme then we change how we behave under these conditions.
