Admittedly I posted this thread in singles because I knew the majority would see it here so sue me lol.

I want to take break from reading less encouraging posts and watching my fiance cyber argue with a lot of you folks lol.

Im a born and bred kiwi who lives in New Zealand who managed to convince said fiance to move from Canada to NZ. I grew up mostly christian but listening to only secular music (everything except death metal and country thankyou very much). New Zealand has a decent music industry for such a small country (though nothing near the scale of US), but our christian music industry is seriously nonexistant in my opinion. Thanks to my Canadian Ive been introduced to air1.com - the awesomest Christian online radio ever!

So heres my question, whatever christian radio/cd/cassette (good grief!) you listen to, what song has made a lasting impression on you? With a brief why.

For me, theres a lot but one that sticks out right now is Kerrie Roberts 'Outcast.' Mainly because I love the feeling of stubborness that comes across and its encouraging to listen to when those around you make snarky 'invisible deity' comments.

I'm listening to the CHVM 95.1 FM radio station in my car ... i just bought the car and don t have any cd's in there yet.. and i like to listen to it because
its a christian radio station..has a variety of songs blessings from the bible.....and and and

I have 2 favorite songs right now
- In Christ alone by Brian Littrell
- What love really means by JJ Heller

i like the lyrics from both songs, which play a large role in my life

JJ Heller what love really means

He cries in the corner where nobody sees

He’s the kid with the story no one would believe

He prays every night “Dear God won’t you please...

Could you send someone here who will love me?”

Who will love me for me?

Not for what I have done or what I will become

Who will love me for me?

‘Cause nobody has shown me what love

What love really means, what love really means

Her office is shrinking a little each day

She’s the woman whose husband has run away

She’ll go to the gym after working today

Maybe if she was thinner then he would’ve stayed

And she says…

Who'll love me for me?

Not for what I have done or what I will become

Who will love me for me?

‘Cause nobody has shown me what love

What love really means what love really means

He’s waiting to die as he sits all alone

He’s a man in a cell who regrets what he’s done

He utters a cry from the depths of his soul

“Oh Lord, forgive me. I want to go home”

Then he heard a voice somewhere deep inside

And it said “I know you’ve murdered

And I know you’ve lied

And I've watched you suffer all of your life

And now that you’re listening I’ll, I'll tell you that I...”

I will love you for you

Not for what you have done or what you will become

I will love you for you

I will give you the love, the love that you never knew

I will love you for you

Not for what you have done or what you will become

I will love you for you

I will give you the love, the love that you never knew

Artist: Brian Littrell
Song: In Christ Alone

Lyrics:

In Christ alone will I glory
Though I could pride myself in battles won
For I’ve been blessed beyond measure
And by His strength alone I’ll overcome
Oh, I could stop and count successes like diamonds in my hands
But those trophies could not equal to the grace by which I stand

Chorus:
In Christ alone
I place my trust
And find my glory in the power of the cross
In every victory
Let it be said of me
My source of strength
My source of hope

Is Christ alone

In Christ alone do I glory
For only by His grace I am redeemed
For only His tender mercy
Could reach beyond my weakness to my need
And now I seek no greater honor in just to know Him more
And to count my gains but losses to the glory of my Lord

Chorus:
In Christ alone
I place my trust
And find my glory in the power of the cross
In every victory
Let it be said of me
My source of strength
My source of hope

Surely children weren't made for the streets
And fathers were not made to leave
Surely this isn't how it should be
Let Your Kingdom come
Surely nations were not made for war
Or the broken meant to be ignored
Surely this just can't be what You saw
Let Your Kingdom come
Here in my heart

I will live
To carry your compassion
To love a world that's broken
To be Your hands and feet
I will give
With the life that I'd been given
And go beyond religion
To see the world be changed
By the power of Your Name

Surely life wasn't made to regret
And the lost were not made to forget
Surely faith without action is dead
Let Your Kingdom come
Lord break this heart

I will live
To carry your compassion
To love a world that's broken
To be Your hands and feet
I will give
With the life that I'd been given
And go beyond religion
To see the world be changed
By the power of Your Name

Your Name
Is a shelter for the hurting
Jesus Your Name
Is a refuge for the weak
Only Your Name
Can redeem the undeserving
Jesus Your Name
Holds everything I need

I will live
To carry your compassion
To love a world that's broken
To be Your hands and feet
I will give
With the life that I'd been given
And go beyond religion
To see the world be changed
By the power of Your Name

Rich Mullins - If I Stand

There's more that rises in the morning
Than the sun
And more that shines in the night
Than just the moon
It's more than just this fire here
That keeps me warm
In a shelter that is larger
Than this room

And there's a loyalty that's deeper
Than mere sentiments
And a music higher than the songs
That I can sing
The stuff of Earth competes
For the allegiance
I owe only to the giver
Of all good things

CHORUS:
So if I stand let me stand on the promise
That you will pull me through
And if I can't, let me fall on the grace
That first brought me to You
And if I sing let me sing for the joy
That has born in me these songs
And if I weep let it be as a man
Who is longing for his home

There's more that dances on the prairies
Than the wind
More that pulses in the ocean
Than the tide
There's a love that is fiercer
Than the love between friends
More gentle than a mother's
When her baby's at her side

And there's a loyalty that's deeper
Than mere sentiments
And a music higher than the songs
That I can sing
The stuff of Earth competes
For the allegence
I owe only to the Giver
Of all good things

CHORUS(2x)

And if I weep let it be as a man
Who is longing for his home

I always liked all of Rich Mullins music because it made me realize that his music represents my faith. He was real and He made God seem Powerful and yet compassionately reachable. He did not rip off cheesy abstractions about God or Drone the same chorus lines over and over again to achieve a heightened psychological sensitivity to social suggestion. He was deep and passionate. He lived every ounce of what he believed.

To me his music is the opposite of Chris Tomlin's (grrrr)

One of my favorites of all time. While the Nations Rage is amazing too.

Love me if you can by Toby Keith...

Sometimes think the war is necessary
Every night I pray for peace on earth
And I hand down my dollars to the homeless
But believe that every able soul should work

[Pre Chorus]

My father gave me my shotgun
That I'll hand down to my son
Try to teach him everything it means

[Chorus]

I'm a man of my convictions
Call me wrong, call me right
But I bring my better angels to every fight
You may not like where I'm goin'
But you sure know where I stand
Hate me if you want to
Love me if you can

[Verse 2]

I stand by my right to speak freely
But I worry 'bout what kids learn from TV
And before all of debatin' turns to angry words and hate
Sometimes we should just agree to disagree

[Pre Chorus]

And I believe that Jesus
Looks down here and sees us
And if you ask him, he would say

[Chorus Out]

When I feel I just can't do it anymore I sing a song called, 'I don't want to change the whole world and lose my soul. Thankfully, that Toby Mac song has not had to been sung more than once in. My life when helping the downtrodden cost me several thousand dollars. But God is so faithful, He ALWAYS provides a way out from great loss in our lives, and, like Abraham, if we keep our great faith through the evil that hurts us or test depending on of its God allowing Satan to attack us like Job, or a character-growth deal fromGod, God will dutifully, bountiful reward us , way beyond our best thinking that we think we can be blessed. Abraham, after son sacrifice deal, became the father of many nations. 'Course. Job lost everything, but through faith and an undying resilience to not let his suffering destroy his faith in God, became utterly blessed, way beyond what Job had before.

Way too much said, perhaps? Perhaps ;)

Nice choice Stilly. I am a Jamey Johnson fan and he has a song called "Lead Me Home",

I have seen my last tomorrow,
I am holding my last breath,
Goodbye, sweet world of sorrow,
My new life, begins with death.

I am standing on the mountain,
I can hear the angels songs,
I am reaching over Jordon,
Take my hand, Lord lead me home.

All my burdens, are behind me,
I have prayed, my final pray,
Don't you cry, over my body,
Cause that ain't me, lying there.

No, I am standing on the mountain,
I can hear the angels songs,
I am reaching over Jordon,
Take my hand, Lord lead me home.

I am standing (Lord, I am standing) on the mountain ( on the mountain ),
I can hear ( I can hear the angels songs ) the angels songs,
I am reaching over Jordon, ( over Jordon )
Take my hand, Lord lead me home.
Take my hand, Lord lead me home.

Kinda makes me think of what we have to look forward to after leaving this world.
