Waaaay back when I was young, I joined this new church. Even when I look back, I don't consider myself poor back then. I lived within my budget and could save money when working, so that's not poor. I was also in between jobs, but assumed that was momentary. (It was.) But one of the ladies decided I needed some dresses, and God told me (as much as I thought God talked to me all the time back then) to go with it -- accept the charity. So we went out dress shopping on money given by the church for this.

I found some nice dresses that would be helpful to have for job interviews, so the following weekend I went to church in my usual clothes -- clean jeans with a buttoned shirt.

She asked me why I wasn't wearing one of my new dresses, so I told her I was saving them for job interviews, plus, "Besides. God's seen me naked, so why would he be impressed that I wear a dress now?"

She went away speechless. Shortly after that, I met a guy in church. We became friends and a month or two later we dated. Then he told me he was attracted to me because I didn't seemed bothered with the fact that I was the only woman in that church not wearing dresses. That was the first time I noticed the rest of the women wore dresses. (It was winter. Why wear dresses in winter? lol)

Seven months later, I married him and she was my matron-of-honor. I strongly suspect she gave a big sigh of relief when I accepted her next offer -- one of her friends was a seamstress and she made my wedding dress and her bridesmaid dress. At least I wore a dress on my wedding day. lol

Just because someone tells you to wear a dress doesn't mean they won't eventually accept you if you don't.

It's that adjective that modifies the word "grace" that I've avoided.

I can understand, somewhat, how with a small number of biblical issues we may have different interpretations.
I can not fathom how, as Christians we can be rude, arrogant, insensitive, insulting, and condeming with each other.
The fruits of the spirit anyone?
First Cor 13?
John 17?
A unbeliever coming on here may conclude from these posts that we are no different from the world.
The opinion the world has of us is already low enough, and a lot of that is our own doing.
Lets not perpetuate it here.

Lord, bless our fingers and thoughts. May our typed words be in a spirit you would approve.

100% correct. I'm firmly in the "unbeliever" category, and I haven't seen anything on these forums to make me think any differently. Many of you act horrid to each other and you do so by throwing scripture around like punches. It's sickening. It makes me regret paying the $5 here to have access. I could have used that $5 in a lot better places in my life.

LOL. I seriously doubt I'm here to shed light on things. People get entirely too uppity when called out on their actions, especially around these parts.

I think my being here is just another step in my journey. I'll get my $5 worth out of you and then move on to other pastures.

You never know.... We may not realize it..... We may not know it... We may never till we get to where we're going.... But always believin that well, I'm not sure why I showed up there.... But there ain't no thing as coincidence.... The LORD knew somebody there had to hear something I said... Maybe not now, or tomorrow... But somebody is going to come long and read what I wrote "PAZZOW!"... Holy cow.... I needed that.......

It's FREE to join CC. The only subscription fee you can opt to pay for is being able to pm in the chat rooms, and post pictures in the chat rooms. That does NOT apply here in the forums.. :confused: You SHOULD be able to pm and post pictures here in the forums.

Oh I didn't even know. I wondered why the chatrooms didn't work LOL. Dutch. Too stingy to pay 5 dollar hahahahaha.
