Joshua Dyer (aged 14) was tasked at school to write a poem for Remembrance Day. An hour later (without any help) he produced this.

One Thousand Men Are Walking

One thousand men are walking
Walking side by side
Singing songs from home
The spirit as their guide
they walk toward the light milord
they walk towards the sun
they smoke and laugh and smile together
no foes to outrun
these men live on forever
in the hearts of those they saved
a nation truly grateful
for the path of peace they paved
they march as friends and comrades
but they do not march for war
step closer to salvation
a tranquil steady corps
the meadows lit with golden beams
a beacon for the brave
the emerald grass untrampled
a reward for what they gave
they dream of those they left behind
and know they dream of them
forever in those poppy fields
there walks one thousand men

Joshua Dyer 2019 (aged 14)

Goes to show that the young can still surprise us.
Lest we forget

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is life, fight for it."

A Cowboy's Learnings Along The Dusty Trail to Happy Destiny

~"Faith is the light we see with our hearts when all that we see with our eyes is the darkness."
~"We need only to have faith in God!"
~"Loving what is right is not the same as hating what is wrong and feeling right about it."
~"After a while, you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul."
~And you learn that you may be lonely, or lonesome, but that you are never alone, ever again."
~"And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning on and company doesn't mean security. "
~"And you begin to understand that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises. "
~"And you begin to accept your defeats with your head held high and your eyes open, with grace and courage, not the grief of a child."
~"You learn to build your roads on today, because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain, and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight."
~"After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much. So you plant your garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers."
~ "And you learn that you really can endure, that you really are strong."
~"And you learn you really do have worth and that you can keep learning. With every hello and goodbye and the in-between you learn."
~"I'm slowly learning the lessons of life.
~"To forgive, forget, to live and to love."
:)

The Rose
Lyrics by Amanda McBroom

Some say love, it is a river,
That drowns the tender reed
Some say love, it is a razor,
That leaves your soul to bleed
Some say love, it is a hunger,
An endless aching need.
I say Love, it is a flower
And you, its only seed.

It's the heart afraid of breaking,
That never learns to dance.
It's the dream afraid of waking,
That never takes the chance.
It's the one who won't be taken,
Who cannot seem to give.
And the soul afraid of dyin',
That never learns to live.

When the night has been too lonely,
And the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only
For the lucky and the strong,
Just remember, that in the winter,
Far beneath the bitter snows
lies the seed, that with a sun's love
In the spring becomes...
The Rose

A Grandfather Teaching
A Warrior.......
Listen to me carefully and remember every word.

A warrior is not a soldier.
A soldier is trained to fight and follow orders.
A warrior is trained to think for himself and fight only as a last resort.
A warrior is the first to begin and the last to quit .
He laughs the hardest and loves the best.
Stand your ground in all things and only give ground out of kindness.

A warrior is not a follower, nor is he a leader except at great need.
A warrior learns from the animals, the hills, and the rivers.
He respects all things of the earth as if they were his own heart.
All men and all spirits are equals.

A warrior never begs or pleads, nor does he give in to hopelessness and despair.
Whether the warrior is successful or tries valiantly only to have failed, he thanks the Great Spirit for the opportunity and the lessons.

A warrior cares for the weakest and least of his brothers, humbling himself in their service.
He seeks wisdom in all things and learns from even the dullest, for all are his teachers.
A warrior leaves judgment of his brothers and sisters to the Great Spirit, but does not tolerate disrespectful behavior in his presence.

The co-founders of Alcoholics Anonymous met through the Oxford Group, and codified several of its tenets into AA, the first twelve-step program.

The Oxford Group was a Christian organization founded by the American Christian missionary Frank Buchman. Buchman believed that the root of all problems were the personal problems of fear and selfishness. Further, Buchman believed that the solution to living with fear and selfishness was to surrender one's life over to God's Plan.

William Temple, Archbishop of York, paid tribute to the Oxford Groups which "are being used to demonstrate the power of God to change lives and give to personal witness its place in true discipleship. ( CO Wikipedia)
A Church of hundreds of people looking their best on one side of the road and a handful or two of publicans coming out of their stuff, desperately seeking God on the other.
I know i will always find the Spirit with the latter.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8

12 Oz. Can
In my younger days it seems, they say
I was a fine young man--
But growing up into the world
I found my 12 Oz. can.
Wanting to be someone
other than I am--
It seemed I had the answer
inside my 12 Oz. can.

My problems always disappeared
My dreams were well at hand--
I never had to look that far
to find my 12 Oz. can.

As time went on, the world went by
I'm sure you'll understand--
The answers didn't come at all
from inside my 12 Oz. can.

It seemed I had tried everything
but worse than it began--
My life turned into shambles
drinking from my 12 Oz. can.

The can became much heavier
The depths of hell I ran--
Perhaps I had to die that night
to lose my 12 Oz. can.

I could not stop, my will-no good
Myself I couldn't stand--
Then I heard about a program
to replace my 12 Oz. can.

With open doors and fellowship
success through out the land--
They told me to keep coming back
I don't need my 12 Oz. can.

Then suddenly the pain was gone
away like blowing sand--
Then God came down to take from me

The weight of my 12 Oz. can

2 BOXES FROM ME TO YOU??

Two Boxes

God's Boxes
I have in my hands two boxes,
Which God gave me to hold.
He said, "Put all your sorrows in the black box,
And all your joys in the gold."

I heeded His words, and in the two boxes,
Both my joys and sorrows I stored,
But though the gold became heavier each day,
The black was as light as before.

With curiosity, I opened the black,
I wanted to find out why,
And I saw, in the base of the box, a hole,
Which my sorrows had fallen out by.

I showed the hole to God, and mused,
"I wonder where my sorrows could be!"
He smiled a gentle smile and said,
"My child, they're all here with me.."

I asked God, why He gave me the boxes,
Why the gold and the black with the hole?
"My child, the gold is for you to count your blessings,
The black is for you to let go."

We should consider all of our friends a blessing.
Send this to a friend today just to let them know you
are thinking of them and that they are a joy in your life.

A ball is a circle, no beginning, no end.
It keeps us together like our Circle of Friends.
But the treasure inside for you to see,
Is the treasure of friendship you've granted to me.

TAKE MY HAND
Are you troubled, burdened, blue?
Take my hand.
I’ve been troubled, too,
I understand.
Where you’ve fallen, once I fell —
Let me help the clouds dispel —
Take my hand.
Others helped when I was weak,
Took my hand,
Helped me face toward the peak,
Helped me stand.
What they did, now let me do —
Pass the kindness on to you.
Someday you’ll help others, too.
Take my hand.

Uncalm times are the only times when evil can find an entrance.

I will be more afraid of spirit-unrest,
of soul disturbance,
of any ruffling of the mind,
than of earthquake or fire.
When I feel the calm of my spirit
has been broken by emotional upset,
then I must steal away alone with God,
until my heart sings and
all is strong and calm again.
Uncalm times are the only times
when evil can find an entrance...
I will try to keep calm,

no matter what turmoil surrounds me.

Mizpah Benediction
Genesis 31:49
"God will watch over us when we are apart."
Footprints

Mizpah

Go thou thy way, and I go mine,
Apart, yet not afar;
Only a thin veil hangs between
The pathways where we are.
And "God keep watch 'tween thee and me";
This is my
prayer.
He looks thy way, He looketh mine,
And keeps us near.
I know not where thy road may lie,
Or which way mine will be;
If mine will lead thro' parching sands
And thine beside the sea;
Yet God keeps watch 'tween thee and me,
So never fear;
He holds thy hands, He claspeth mine,"
And keeps us near.

Should wealth and fame perchance be thine,
And my lot lowly be,
Or you be sad and sorrowful,
And glory be for me,
Yet God keep watch 'tween thee and me;
Both be His care;
One arm round thee and one round me
Will keep us near.

I sigh sometimes to see thy face,
But since this may not be,
I'll leave thee to the care of
Him.
Who cares for thee and me.
"I'll keep you both beneath my wings,"
This comforts, dear; One wing o'er thee
and one o'er me,
Will keep us near.

And though our paths be separate,
And thy way is not mine,
Yet coming to the Mercy seat,
My soul will meet with thine.
And "God keep watch 'tween thee and me,"
I'll whisper there.
He blesseth thee, He blesseth me,
And we are near.

Where is God?

Where there is Joy springing from the Good there is Love,
But it is only where that Love is, that this Joy comes from the Good.
Where there is Joy in the Good, there is Giving and Sharing,
And where there is Giving and Sharing with Joy there is
That LOVE, which is GOD.

His gift to us, His Beloved Children, is the Gift of Life,
Sharing with us His Eternal Spirit that we might become MAN,
The Being which seeks GOD.
And if, in his seeking, MAN seeks with sincerity,
He has already found HIM.

Take comfort, You who would seek ME, for in your seeking
You have already found ME, and ----
YOU WILL KNOW and UNDERSTAND that

I AM LOVE

Received from the campfire spirit one night in the Mojave desert, November, 1999 . . .

From Earth we are created,
From imagination we are uplifted,
From history we are transcended,
We are the Past, Present and Future,
We are Now.

The fruit of the Spirit is
Gentleness, Patience, Kindness
Self-Control, Love, Faithfulness
Joy, Peace, Goodness.

Love and Peace, Windwalker
