We passed the age from Moses to Christ, when God worked with a people to teach them to live abundantly and eternally. I think it is interesting that God used what they did every day for training: eating, bathing, clothes, even sex. Always, this training was after His people accepted God as their one and only God. These suggestions for living within God’s kingdom were not for the pagans, only for those in the family of God. They weren’t for salvation, atonement was for that, but were helps toward worship. God found they sometimes misused this training.
This training was based on the idea that there is a connection between the spiritual and physical world, that our world is made in the image of God. In the age we are in, we believe that the physical world is of the flesh and is of the devil. God says that is a Gnostic belief and not of God. God said He created the world and it was good. So we feel that nothing we do physically can be for God, it is our flesh that does it and we are to stay away from worldliness. We are to die to the flesh, and take on Christ. That is read as dying to the physical as an expression of spiritual, and take on only spiritual.
Christ is the start of the last age, the age of the gentile. We are coming to the end of that age according to scripture. Our age has been very long, about 2,000 years, but according to scripture it is coming to an end. We are to know the end by watching for the Jews return to the Holy Land and the gospel being available to all.
A main ingredient of our age is to be against Judaism. God said that would be so and in Luke 21:24 and Romans 11:25 that tells of our age, both scriptures mentions the sword used against the Jews. Millions have been killed by us for no other reason than that they are Jews.
Luke 21:[SUP]24 [/SUP]They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
Romans 11:[SUP]25 [/SUP]I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in,
When you read the history of the development of the organized church in our age, you find that lots of our worship centers on the Jews. Our church is organized around getting rid of anything relating to them in our worship. We say that following law is a matter of eliminating the way Jews did it. We say holidays devoted to God must be only ones of the gentile age. Even Passover about the birth of Christ had to be completely changed, the name, the date, the method of celebration. The bible has to be read and understood as an elimination of anything Jewish.
There is the word “obsolete”in the scripture of Hebrews. True bible scholars follow carefully the OT, and how Christ made what obsolete. Often our church reads that word and uses It to wipe out anything of God that Jews believe.
There were tendencies in the church for this to happen from the beginning. The pagans would not have accepted salvation offered by Christ if it meant accepting the rituals Jews used in their worship, and those rituals were not Christ’s message. Much of our scripture after Christ is talking about this very thing. Man has taken each instruction as meaning WOW, Christ gives us all and expects nothing from us we can’t do at the same time we live just as we always have, no change, it is wonderful.
There was a remnant of people in the age of Moses who understood, and that age worked well for them, but for many it did not work at all. Our organized church calls it the age of works, and looks down their nose at it. We could call our age the age of no works. It the same way as works teaching only backwards, it works for the remnant because they understand. But for the majority, neither of these ways of following God is working.
God used the pagan Constantine for His purposes in the same way God used Nebuchadnezzar. He was an emperor who set up the guidelines for much of our organized church in 324. He called for a council that established that Christ was God when some church leaders were teaching He was not, so we think that truth made all he said truth. All of his leading has been incorporated in our organized church and much of it is against God. He said if the Jews did it, it was wrong. There went Passover (he put in Easter to tell us it was fine), all the holidays as God laid them out, and we could get rid of much of what God said about our world in the Old Testament. It was too Jewish. Constantine said everything of the Jews was wrong except that Christ could be included.
I think we all should do careful study now. God says the new age will center, again, on the Jews. So much time has elapsed between the people of the OT and us that we have a hard time reading it the same way as the people who wrote it meant that God was breathing this scripture to them. God has opened up ways for us to understand through archeology such as the deep sea scrolls. The first was in 1946, and information is just now seeping down to us. They were important for they gave a way to translate very early written language so findings could be read. It isn't what is new that is important, but in giving us better understanding of what we have been told.
More and more people are Christians who worship all of God, and open their hearts to all scripture, not just the final chapters of God’s message to us of His plans for our salvation and life both here and eternally.
