Truthfully, I really doubt that the mark will be a vaccination. Reason being is that, if we stay with the clues in Revelation, then the mark will be localized in the hand or the forehead and will be used to allow people to buy and sell. Putting that into perspective for today, buying and selling would be electronic crediting and debiting of ones bank account. Here's the scripture:
"And the second beast required all people small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark—the name of the beast or the number of its name. (Rev.13:16-17)
Regarding this, Sweden and her sister countries are way ahead of the US in that, they have been pretty much a cashless society using only bank cards for making purchases. Since 2015, their citizens have been receiving RFID chip implants underneath the skin between the index finger and thumb. Now, more more people are being chipped and instead of using bank cards, they are now having their hands scanned to pay things such their train tickets and food purchases.
A vaccination is not stationary, but travels throughout the body and therefore it does not fit the criteria of the mark which will be located on either the hand or forehead. It is this mark, which will be some type of miniature device which will allow a person to perform crediting and debiting to their bank account. I believe that this current RFID technology will evolve into something smaller and more applicable in preparation for the coming beast.
Another thing is that, this mark will not be something that is forced upon anyone against their will, but must be receive by personal choice of the individual. Otherwise, God could not hold them accountable for receiving the mark. The only way that this can work, is by making all other methods of buying and selling obsolete, so that there is only one valid way of access ones money, ergo the false prophet forces all people. I'd be kind of like living out in the boonies where there is only one cable company. Either you buy their cable or you won't have any. I agree with MailmanDan! This mark of the beast technology could not just pop up over night, but had to evolve in preparation for that coming antichrist/beast and will continue to do so. Notice how the world is oblivious to the relevance of this technology. To them it is just the world evolving. Many are even eager to receive this device because of the convenience that it would provide. By the time the antichrist/beast is revealed, this technology will already be in place.
The scripture states that the mark will contain the number of his name. I believe that just as the bank cards contain digital codes such as the bank branch and country codes, etc., that the beasts name could be digitally imbedded in the data within that mark, since it will also be used to digitally access ones back account. The one receiving that mark will be pledging allegiance to the beast.
The mark will also be survival driven, since it will be the only way that a person will be able to digitally perform any kind of buying or selling (digital crediting and debiting). People will be more concerned about saving their lives here on this earth and will therefore take the mark so that they can continue to pay their bills, buy gas, pay their mortgages/rents, food, etc.
No need to worry though for those who are in Christ, as the Lord will come for His bride prior to the pouring out His wrath which will be initiated by the opening of the first seal, the rider on the white horse who is representing the antichrist and who is a counterfeit of the rider on the white horse in Revelation 19:11-21. Believers within the church will never see the antichrist, but will have been caught up prior to His being revealed. Why is this? Because Jesus already experienced God's wrath that every believer deserves, satisfying it completely. Therefore, God's wrath no longer rests upon the believer and must be removed before God's wrath begins and which is why the scripture states that we are not appointed to suffer God's wrath.
"Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed." (Isaiah 53:4-5)
